This week in Rock Band DLC: PAX music and stuff photo

Nick Chester is away at PAX, lounging around with his industry friends and getting off with all the girls, so it's up to me to fulfill his damn obligations and talk about Rock Band DLC. I don't know crap about these games, and I'm not going to pretend I do. Anyway, there is music this week.

Jonathan Coulton, MC Frontalot and Freezepop all make appearances this week, in honor of PAX. In addition to the PAX pack, there are tunes from Oasis, Avenged Sevenfold, The Jam and Rage Against The Machine. So yeah, loads of songs that you can buy up and download and play with plastic instruments.

Hit the jump for the press release or something.

Cambridge, Mass. – Sept. 4, 2009 - Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that two three-packs of songs from bands appearing at the Penny Arcade Expo this weekend will be available for download in the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content next week for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™. No JoCo 'I Feel Fantastic'? I'm mildly dissapointed. It wouldn't make me get Rock Band, but still.

Woah... Brainpower came up in a random setlist just last night, and I said how awesome it would be if Science Genius Girl was available. Awesome!

RE Your Brains is great news.

But I am disapointed that we're not getting any more Darkest of the Hillside Thickets. I learned about them from the last PAX pack, and totally fell in love with the band.

I pray to cthullu that the thickets get down with the RBN system and release some more tracks themselves.

I would never have expected Origin of Species to come to Rock Band. I am pleasantly surprised.

Nice to know Freezepop is getting a pack since it seems we'll see more of them in the future, I dig their stuff. Coulton is...weird, that's all I'll say for him. I know drums on "Kryptonite" will be fun, not sure how it will be on the other peripherals. And AFI still sucks.

I'll have the PAX and Freezepop tracks for definite, just wish they were coming sooner!

Also, one Jonathan Coulton track per year is cruel. Someone make PAX a bi-monthly thing so there's excuse to have more of these bands.

Glad they stuck with Freezepop songs that have already been in Guitar Hero. No, I'm not being sarcastic.

When Freezepop played my town last october, I was shown their approval email for Rock Band DLC tracks from Harmonix. It took almost a year from approval stage to actual download. Harmonix has stuff planned out really far in advance.
