This sounds necessary: A videogame based on The Host 2 photo

A videogame adaptation of The Host would have turned out pretty bad, I imagine, but there's no way it could (theoretically) top the upcoming first-person shooter based upon The Host 2.

Now I know Jonathan recently listed some horror movies he'd like to see as videogames, and as fate would have it, he had some ideas for how The Host could be retold as an interactive experience. Based on the first details for The Host 2 (the game, not the movie), his ideas were too good for such a project.

As I mentioned earlier, it's going to be an FPS. But wait, it gets better: the game stars "mutant humanoids graced with superhuman skills." And finally, it's headed to every platform imaginable -- even mobile phones.

So, basically, the game is going to be an awesome licensed title that is in no way an attempt to make easy money. Gotcha.

Awww, and the first movie was so good.

I though the movie turned out good for the first half, but halfway through it gets really, really tedious and dull. I thought cloverfield took the basic idea and ran with it, and did it much better.

That said, I'm always up for any videogame with huge mutant monsters from the deep in it, so sign me up!

That said, I find this announcement slightly suspicious, since there is no attached publisher or even developer, or anything other than a vague idea of ''hey this might make a cool game''.

Really, people? The first film was terrible. Can't say I've seen the second one, but given how rarely horror sequels improve ont he original, I doubt I'm missing much. A game of either sounds like a pretty awful idea.

I felt the exact same way about the Grudge game when it was first announced-

Please don't suck.

@Ace Fibble I agree. That film was really bad. I particularly didn't care about the anti-American sentiment in the film. Hopefully they won't be bringing that over to the game.

I really enjoyed The Host. The more I think about it the idea of a game based on it just wouldn't work since the most important part of the movie, the family relations, would probably not transfer. I never thought of The Host as much of a horror movie, I think marketing it as such is also slightly misleading.

The Host > Cloverfield

and neither were horror or remotely similar.

Yeah, a movie based around one monster isn't really good gaming material

They made a sequel..? Hmm. The first was alright as I recall, and I suppose a sequel was granted. But games based on horror/monster movies rarely turn out that great.
