Oh, would you look at that classy fire backdrop. Painkiller: Resurrectionis clearly a quality product, guys.
*Cue hilariously over-the-top scream followed by absurd, screen-filling blood splatter*
I can't quite tell if this was supposed to be a funny trailer or not. Unintentional humor is often the best kind, though. To celebrate Painkiller: Resurrection going gold -- the first-person shooter is out for PC on the 27th -- JoWooD Productions kindly shared this piece of visual tomfoolery with us.
Seeing as how this video was the first footage I have even seen of the game, and how it tended to show stuff that, uh, looks almost exactly like prior Painkiller games, I'm not too hopeful here. For these Doom-like games to work, you at least need new enemies, new weapons, and lots of them.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

I'll be honest: That looks terrible. Rehashed content, pimping their hopelessly outdated engine and zero improvement on the original formula from 5 years ago.
I like how they say "improved this, or that" when everything looks pretty much the same. ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHH awesome scream at the beginning, almost crapped my pants.
The first game was so great because of it's original, over the top weapons, detailed graphics, and visceral gameplay. Even though the game design was somewhat old school, the technology was cutting edge -- this was the first FPS that had a truly sophisticated implementation of the Havok physics engine and it was terrific. In short, the original was NOT a budget title, but this "sequel" clearly is. It might be fun, but it is not the follow-up that Painkiller deserves.
I preordered this on Steam a few days ago because I hadn't played any of the games before (and the preorder bonus was the previous games) and I like the series' "run around and kill everything" approach. I was a little uninformed as to how much the sequels are the same damn game, but I'm having fun with it so far. Besides, the whole package is $27, so at least it's a pretty cheap set of "same".
Who cares about all these problems sure the game isn't perfect but it is oldschool and thats whats really important don't you have some respect for the oldschool

I'm fine with that.

Seriously, that's not what I think of when I hear "destructible environment".
