In my opinion it's a great time to buy a PSP even if you plan to buy a Vita. A large chunk of the best PSP games aren't available on PSN, of those games that are available digitally on PSN most cost more than buying the UMDs. Importing games is easier than buying them digitally because you need a Credi/Debit card from said region to buy stuff. Lots of games never left Japan so fan-translation patches are a great thing.
Yeah, usually I'd say theres no reason to own a prior handheld, but with UMD's being unplayable on the PSV and them being cheap, its kind of a steal overall. And thats not even counting the jail breaking you can do to it.

If you're stubborn about getting new consoles/handheld or like the colour, I say go for it, but for the love of God get a bigger memory card. No even for custom firmwares, but so you can put whatever you want on it, music, videos, multiple games (sever of which are 700+mb). Though, for the press, you could get a used PSP and get the same result...except not blue (which you can fix by buying a new case online).

PSP now is an excellent value. Even by today's standards I find the PSP an impressive device. It has years of game development with many excellent games, most deeply discounted, with UMDs or PSN to choose from. If you are new to handhelds it offers a different kind of gaming experience, one you won't find on consoles nor on the PC.
If the Vita can play PSP games with better resolution, better framerates, more anti-aliasing, etc., there is an argument you should go with that. But if not, if you don't either the PSP or the Vita, the PSP would be my recommendation until the Vita builds a better game library.

I would have thought they have already achieved total market saturation for the PSP in Japan already, but maybe there is an avid collector market.
I'm pretty sure that particular blue color would distract me while i was trying to play. It looks nice, it just might contrast with whatever's on the screen.
Wow sorry peeps just a comment played uncharted and.....plants v's zombies...transferred PSP games across and well I still have my PSP and they look better on smaller screen.....so PSV not getting much action hoping Friday's game news will be exciting, if not only looking forward to Disgaea.still funny.........
Just as a friendly reminder.. you all do realize you can make your psp whatever color you want, since ebay and pretty much every single modding site have replacement shells for it. All for roughly $20.
