This Namco Bandai trademark is off the 'Pac-Chain' photo

We're a little over a week away from Namco Bandai's reveal of the 'next evolution' of Pac-Man. Will it be "Pac-Chain"?

Don't know, but Namco Bandai just trademarked "Pac-Chain" in Europe for use with videogames and coin-operated machines. As Spencer with Siliconera points out, the mention of coin-op machines specifically is interesting; previous Pac-Man trademarks -- like the ones for Pac-Man Kart Rally, for instance -- made no mention of such machines.

To me, Pac-Chain sounds like some totally awesome jewelry or a puzzle game. Whether or not this is the 'next evolution' of Pac-Man remains to be seen.

New Pac-Man games are always a direct hit or complete miss. If it's 3D graphics, I have little hope for it. Otherwise, it would be awesome if this turns out to be a legitimately good game. Maybe even get people back down to the arcades?
