Ever since we got our first look at From Software's 3D Dot Game Heroes, the general sentiment has been that we love the way it looks, but we're all dying to see some actual video. Well, today you can rejoice, for I have brought you ... a thing.
That thing is a new trailer, giving us our first look at the game in motion. We knew 3D Dot Game Heroes was going to be very Zelda-like, and as you can see above, that's true not just in terms of weapons but also in its music and the way it moves. In fact, it quite literally looks like a sprite game in 3D, right down to its hoppity character animation.
I'm not sure what else I expected after weeks of seeing screenshots, but I'm still impressed with just how well it captures the classic retro feel of the games it pays homage to. Watching enemies explode into clouds of tiny blocks has me hoping ever harder that this one comes stateside. Take a look for yourself and let us know what you think.

Seriously, even if it's a ridiculously short game with dubious gameplay, it's still a must-buy for anyone who was around during the late 80s videogame scene.

at the very end there was a PS3 and a playstation logo at the top left corner, so I assume PS3. also would the trailer have had the intro written in english letters if it wasn't going to eventually come out west?
I bet Japan is going to get a ton of cool merchandise out of this. These characters are just screaming to have figures made out of 'em.
Still, I'm really excited for this game.
I'm just hoping that it's not a straight up Zelda clone (aside from the gameplay) and they basically just spoof the Zelda story and conventions throughout.
This game can either end up being a knock off or a hilarious send up. Looks fun either way, but I'd prefer the latter.
Peri said it first, but this is totally Lego Zelda. My excitement was slightly reduced by this trailer, but I'm still highly anticipating it. Let's see if it can do Zelda better than Zelda.
You must be joking. Everyone was shocked enough by Wind Waker when it was first released, if Nintendo ever did something like that they'd riot. Despite what people may say, the only thing people seem to want from their games are more of the same, and/or more macho. Well most people at least.

agreed. but still, Nintendo really needs to get cracking on games that gamers like. the PS3 has come out with so many games that you would expect to come out on a Nintendo console: LBP, Fat Princess, 3D Dot Heroes, ModNation Racers, and so on. From Nintendo we're getting ANOTHER Mario Galaxy, ANOTHER DS Zelda, ANOTHER Metroid FPS. And where the hell are Star Fox and Kirby?
