Followers of 4A Game's Metro 2033 take note: this is the trailer you've been waiting for. It's the one where they stop hinting at the radiated horrors, and actually show what they look like up close. "Terrifying" is the word I'd use to describe these things, I think.

It's a shame this post-apocalyptic shooter will likely release with its fair share of technical issues -- "jank," as Brad and I often call it -- because every other part of it looks absolutely fascinating. Games have delved into life in the wasteland plenty of times before, but never quite like this.

Taking all of that into consideration, I'm still feeling cautiously optimistic. You probably should too.

THQ has been on my good side lately. Red Faction: Guerilla and Darksiders were both great. I've yet to make a decision on Metro yet.

Cautiously optimistic is a good way to put it. I kinda hate the pre-order exclusive items trend that's popped up lately. Especially after the cluster fuck that was creating/syncing an EA.com account to get stuff for Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2.

I was hyped for this, but then came Jim's preview and now i'm neutral about it.
Gotta wait for a review i guess.

The heavy automatic shotgun looks pretty badass but if what Jim said about the scarcity of ammo is true then it won't be all that useful. Some of those scenes reminded me of Reign of Fire. I'm hoping for the best with this one.

Is it just me or is the accent of the voice over seem a little not so natural? Trailer looks good - looking forward to some reviews.

Destructoid's preview actually got me MORE excited for the game, which had previously been pretty far off my radar. I suffered through Stalker's bug-laden landscape, so technical issues don't ruin a game for me unless they're game-ending (though I'm really hoping they fix them all pre-release), and the atmosphere of this game just excites me for some reason. I'm getting kind of a survival-horror-FPS vibe, which I really dig.

I thought at first this game was going to be a pile of garbage like fallout 3(worst game this gen), but it actually looks pretty good.

The guy that says "lock and load" is Spike Spiegle doing a Russian accent.

I'm with you on that. I'm really hoping that if they do decide to "fix" the ammo situation it is only through a difficulty setting. I'm tired of boundless amounts of ammo taking the horror out of my survival horror games.

But its not survival horror if you can't fight effectively without ammo. To me at least, Jim sounded more mad that without ammo it was impossible to fight and live than that ammo was simply scarce.

He seemed not to mind until he got to a fight where there was no chance in hell that he could win without ammo and that the knife was effectively worthless and that stealthing was not possible.

This game looks really bland and generic to me. I have a feeling it's gonna be another AVP or even worse, Rogue Warrior. A lot a pre-release exposure and hype usually means the game itself sucks.

Looks kinds of like STALKER with more action, more story, and less survival. It could be pretty good. It's too bad that they had to make it seem so similar to STALKER, though.

For those of you who are still on the fence on this one, I noticed that video didn't mention the other bonus for pre-ordering, namely $10 off when you pick up your pre-order. After I found out about that I'm thinking I'm gonna chance it and get it. I did the same thing last year for WET because GameStop offered the same promotion for $10 off the price and although WET wasn't anything amazing it was at least fun. I'm hoping the same for Metro.

Looks pretty amazing.
I really really hope this will be good.

Also, does anyone know the name of the song used in the trailer?
The beginning is from the End of Days Soundtrack, but i am looking for that "ominous latin chanting" one.
