This looks like the PSPgo, but it totally isn't photo

Not bad, China. When you rip off something, you usually do a crap job. This? This looks like a PSPgo at first glace. Maybe even second glance. But it misses the mark on closer examination.

What you're seeing here is the PXP-2000. That's right. They seriously went with the name PXP. This is the latest in the long line of pachimono (the term for knock-offs). This one slides open, just like the PSPgo. But when you start playing, you'll notice a difference -- this does not play PSP games. Instead, you can run emulators to play NES, Gameboy, Super Nintendo and Genesis games. It also plays multimedia, has an FM tuner, sports 2GB of built-in storage, and can take more memory via an SD slot.

Wait, this sounds better than the PSPgo! I kid, Sony. Mostly.

Japanese page ITmedia says that this knock-off is supposed to sell for $149. Right.

I would totally buy one of these before the overpriced PSPgo.

Hmm... still would buy a 2000 and change the firmware to do all of that and more. But not bad if someone wants the small form factor.

I heard on Engadget they are actually only $80...which means you could buy three of them for the same price as a PSPGo.
Awesome.

I'm actually oddly interested in picking this up. Purely because I'd like a nice little slide-design emulator on the go. The only thing that puts me off is the needless widescreen formfactor - nice for movies maybe but I'll be using my Archos for media.

Bleh. Knock-offs typically have very shoddy construction.

It also has a bigger screen, but screens of such knock offs is usually crappy... though I don't think it has psp3000's stupid scanlines.
Most knock offs have same/similiar circuit at core, so you just pay extra for a nice case.

that actually looks pretty awesome. If they're actually $80, I'm down, $149 is still a bit steep. But, shit, portable SNES/emulated games that won't be patched when you connect to PSN = win.

@Suigyoken: Except that the PSP doesn't have a good SNES emulator. Some people can tolerate it, but I could never play SNES games on the PSP.

I'm sure they'll be getting a message from sony soon. If you could buy genesis games for .99 on psn I'm sure people would get them though, I'm sure sega wouldn't mind (if they don't have exclusivity with the wii that is.)

I'll wait for reviews but it looks like I may buy one, looks awesome. But hey, we'll see about the PSPgo as well because that thing can play PSP games.

Honestly, if had bluetooth and a matte black finish, it would be a serious consideration.

ugh...im tired of the crying already... waaaaaaaa pspgo is too expesnsive. they give you 16gigs of internal memory and basically fix all the hand cramping issues and made it less clunky. didnt people use to complain about how the umd is so gay and how they easily break and a whole bunch of other nonsense. seriously stfu and dont buy it! other people out there are willing to take your place on line.

Hmm... I can buy this for my cousin and he'll think it's a PSP, and then he'll try a game and it won't work, and I'll tell him he broke it. Then I will laugh, sadistically.

If it plays NES, Gameboy, Super Nintendo and Genesis emulators, it means it has a better game lineup than the original!

Sounds like the Dingoo a320 all over again. cept that it's a total gameboy micro rip off that can play anything short of a psx and runs a version of linux. (I pick mine up tomorrow :D) If game companies ever break off their oligopoly on hardware you may start to see third-party consoles booming from there as well. Meh, one can only dream right?
