This Lancer replica is as elaborate as it is expensive photo

You'd have to be either a huge Gears of War fan or have an insane amount of disposable income to be able to afford TriForce's 1:1 scale Lancer Assault Rifle. The highly impressive replica costs $949.99, and will be available in February of next year.

These Lancers are 40" in length, weigh 15 pounds, have working LED lights, and only 500 of them are being created. TriForce is taking pre-orders now, if you actually are into this sort of thing. Not that these replicas aren't incredibly cool, but seriously.

Personally, the Amazon.com Lancer meets my chainsaw gun needs; if I had an extra $1k sitting around, I'd probably get a huge Alien bust or something equally nerdy. On second thought, I shouldn't be allowed to judge how others spend their money.

I have this odd complex that interferes with my nerdery: every time I see something undeniable cool (ie. Modern Warfare 2's NVGs, Arkham Asylum's Batarang, and the above replica), I immediately jump to a scenario in which I will be forced to explain said item to a member of the opposite sex.

Yeah.... it's pretty sobering when I think of it that way.

Real cool. As in "I would deffinitely NOT buy it, would feel embarrassed if someone bought me it, I don't know where I would put it and why was it made again?" cool. But cool either way.

Now seriously, if you buy it, you suck. Social inequality is one thing. Buying this is just cruelty towards hungry children.

At 15 LBS, I doubt it's plastic, but if it's not an actual working weapon, $950 is outrageous.

Uhh...no thanks.

Quality work, but I don't really care about Gears that much.

I can get a real AR15 for that much money, not a fake gun. Just Saying.

I just never understood why the lancer doesnt have a stock or a butt. You need to somehow brace a high powered weapon against your shoulder when you shoot it.

Its been said before but that thing needs to be able to shoot full auto and have a working chainsaw before i would even think about buying it.

Nice, but can it cook a roast dinner while simultaneously making love to me and painting a perfect replica of the Mona Lisa?

Because for that money I could buy a roast, roast a hooker and hook a commissioned art piece.

sickNasty: This is Gears of War we're talking here. THEY HAVE GIGANTIC MUSCLES AND BADASSERY TO HELP THEM

it's definitely neat but totally not worth insane amounts of money

Joking aside: if this were an AirSoft gun (I say this all the time when video game guns are made like this) it would so be worth it.

Wow, I never noticed it before this picture, but the Lancer has no butt stock. It's even more impractical than I imagined.

At that price the chainsaw should work. That way i could use it to do manly things like cutting trees down and...do ice sculpting.

You could buy a very nice REAL weapon for that kind of dough!

@ZeroTolo: That doesn't necessarily work for everyone. For me, I imagine explaining it like this: "Oh, it's a replica of the Lancer from Gears of War. It's an assault rifle with a built-in chainsaw, and it's fucking badass!" I don't have the time or the energy for shame or insecurity when it comes to the awesomely geeky things I love. I think more people should be like that. The world would be a happier, more interesting place.

That's cool, man. To each his own. I embrace my geekyness as much as the next guy, it's just that the last time I kind of gave full disclosure about it to somebody, it kind of ruined things.

So now I just restrain myself a little bit more than usual.
