This is what makes The Witcher: Enhanced Edition 'enhanced' photo

CD Projekt’s action RPG The Witcher was the subject of pretty solid acclaim when it released last year. Based on the fantasy book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher put players into the shoes of amnesiac monster hunter Geralt, and presented plenty of long-running consequences depending on various choices made hours earlier in the game. Everything wasn’t all sunshine and roses, though, as the game suffered from various technical problems such as long loading times.

These problems, although somewhat addressed in patches, are promised to be completely fixed in the upcoming The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. Aside from the technical fixes, visual improvements, over 5000 lines of re-written and re-recorded dialogue, more than 200 new dialogue animations, an enhanced inventory, and improved combat responsiveness are also among the promised improvements we can expect to see in the Enhanced Edition.

Several more bonuses will also be packed in with the Enhanced Edition. There will be two brand new adventures, an adventure editor, a multilingual disk for people that want to listen to the spoken dialogue in different languages, the Official Soundtrack CD, a Music Inspired by The Witcher CD, an official game guide, The Witcher short story by Andrzej Sapkowski, a Making-of DVD with behind-the-scenes video footage, and a map of The Witcher’s world.

That sounds like one hell of a bargain for $50, and I don’t about you, but I’m definitely going to be picking up the Enhanced Edition when it comes out this September.

I tried the demo of the original version and wasn't impressed in the slightest. Really hope this is worth the wait.

Once the game was all patched up, it was AMAZING. Honestly, one of my favorite Western-styled RPGs

I wish this is what would have come with it when I originally bought the game, though is the short story by chance what came with as the pre-order item?

The Witcher is probably the last real CRPG until Bioware's Dragon Age is released. Any proper CRPG player that hasn't yet tried out The Witcher's mature and darker storytelling, with choices that matter, great and darkly humorous dialog, and fast paced but tactical combat system, should give it a try when the Enhanced edition comes out.

Definitely worth it.

@ riomccarthy

The 'enhanced' changes to the game are being released as a patch for those that have the game already.

Will the multilingual options be in the patch too? I sure hope so, I wanna play this game in Polish with English text.

Hopefully they will be. There's a 'fix' here providing the original English subtitles (much better than what's in there at the moment).

The Polish voice overs here.

I imagine the Enhanced version will be better than this quick fix, but it does work pretty well.

@King3vbo, Solivagant - Wow, those are quite some statements!
I've missed out on The Witcher so far... looks like I'll be picking this up when it's released.

Wow... Even though I already have the game, I think I might buy the Enhanced Edition. So much bonus content...

Kinda wished it was a deluxe $30 release with just the game content... I don't pay $50 for games =X

I think I remember them saying if you already owned the game you got to download a patch that made your old version the enhanced addition.

This is going to be epic. My old computer couldn't run The Witcher, so I didn't buy it, but with a new computer comes new responsibilities, so I'll be on this like Mario on mushrooms.

So...those that bought the old game are F-ed in the A?

If what AD said is true, maybe I can pick up an older copy cheap...

TewDee CDProjekt confirmed already some time ago that for those who bought the first version there will be a patch released via the games autoupdate functionality. Also, the additional adventures will be released as a free download, so no, I wouldn't say that we're effed in the A.
