Warner Bros. delivered unto us a massive quantity of screens for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. There's thirty-five in all and they look quite nice. I'm especially fond of the one where a woman in a lab coat appears to be rolling her eyes. It probably has something to do with a similar reaction from me towards the first F.E.A.R. title.
I'm a little prejudiced against the series, I suspect, as a friend of mine managed to get me excited by saying it was the scariest thing he'd ever played. Apparently, my friend is a total wuss, as the only even disconcerting bits of F.E.A.R. (i.e. bloody, dreamlike hallways) hadn't been all that interesting since I'd seen it done for the first time in Max Payne five years earlier.
But what do I know? The screens are graphically impressive and maybe they'll make it frightening this time. So far, their viral marketing campaign is making some people uncomfortable if that counts for anything. Lord knows, I never turn down an opportunity to wet myself out of terror from the relative safety of my couch.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
You killed it? You really, really killed it? You blew up a base on its head? Well ... think again, think plot device. And here it is again, on ur chopper and in ur base waiting for the sequel.
As much as I hate it done I still understand it. Alma is already created and introducing another baddie would mean some listening or some reading on gamers part, which is bad. Now it will be possible to fully concentrate on shooting. Also there was post on Dest about established IPs bringing much more money than new endevours. I guess this is inevitable with Hollywoodisation of game industry and many million dollar budget productions.
The nailgun was so very satisfying never bought the game though...
