THQ released a new trailer for Homefront today, and I think it does exactly what they wanted it to do. I think it's the bit with the mass graves that does the trick. Almost enough to make you shudder.
If Kaos Studios keeps this up, Homefront could become one of 2011's first really memorable experiences. I'm certainly pulling for it, as you don't often get such a bold scenario out of a videogame. Crossing my fingers that the promising narrative isn't too sidelined by the multiplayer.

@Sparta2020 It's not like half life 2. I'd Say it's like "Red Faction Guerilla" Vs. "Battlefield Bad Company 2" Red Faction Guerilla For The destructible everything, and trying to take back what was once yours (From the EDF) Battlefield Bad Company for The Army Style (More vehicles then Call of duty)
That's only If I had to compare it to something, looks promising!
Isn't this about a Unified korea? I'm not sure that's um...realistic. And yes It's a game but they are playing the Realism card with North Korea. Those 2 hate each other.
Graphics look terrible. Story looks interesting though
Why does it have to be realistic? 99% of games are based on absolutely ridiculous and stupid premises. This one is certainly no different.
I love how everyone can accept mute space marines and roided out soldiers fighting aliens and people battling zombie invasions, but oh no, a unified North Korea invading the US... oh my god that's not possible!
I really hope the single player experience lives up to its expectations. The scenario is far more interesting to me than yet Halo or CoD style plot. I'm afraid it'll take a backseat to the multiplayer component.
Zombies and Sci-fi are obviously based off futuristic or semi-plausible science. This game is based off of bullshit political theory and history. The most advanced, expansive and dominating nation in the history of the world in terms of military, economics and cultural influence getting it's ass handed to them by a 3rd world authoritarian craphole that doesn't have a military in line with 1980s standards? They use crank phones and bolt-action rifles and have computers that make Windows 98 look like Tony Stark's mansion!
@daleksupreme
I assume that all that most advanced stuff you said is about the US to which I say, Lol wut? Either youre Fox News or you are very very seriously misinformed.
Second, N Korea has the worlds 4th larges standing military, and while we are out policing the world, in serious economical and cultural trouble, aaaaand severely falling behind in education,"bullshit political theories" like this one are a whole lot more plausible.
PS see video above and dispel your notion about N. Koreas archaism. Those boys are not touting bolt action rifles
Everyone saying a united Korea is unlikely - the implication from everything they're showing is that it was forcibly united. And from the way things are looking now, it's perfectly reasonable to say we likely wouldn't have the forces to defend SK if NK did invade them. This could definitely happen, given enough time.
North Korea is a backwater which cannot feed its own population, has no industry/money and boasts a military from the Bronze Age (tip: Iraq, too, had a 'million-man army').
Suffice to say I find this plot incredibly contrived for a game that claims to be based on 'realism'. No, robots and magic aren't plausible, but it's about context and consistency. If a game has a fictional/surreal setting, then great. This game isn't.
I think the premise behind this game is stupid. How the hell would Korea take over the entire U.S.? I can suspend by disbelief for a superpower like China or Russia. But North Korea? WTF? This is like having a scenario in the 90s where the U.S. is invaded by the Iraqi army.

I guess it's gonna get a 4.5 then. :)

WOLVERINES!!!!
so, that would be pretty much all publishers. That includes Microsoft and Sony.
but the reality vs your dumb statement is that publishers play a big role in games being made, and it doesnt mean just paying the bills.

This is kind of a shitty thing to do to the guy...
Although I kind of presume it will turn into a generic shooter after the intro.
Hope not though!
Oh and dead space 2 and little big planet 2 will be 2011s first memorable experiences.
Either you are one of the greatest trolls I've come upon in a long time or you're an idiot. I can't quite tell which.
