While I'm not quite out of the "mixed feelings" phase yet, this clip of Call of Duty: World At War's co-op is a decent starting point.
It might be hard to tell from the embed video (click here for high-res), but the new and improved Call of Duty 4 engine is being put to good use. The foliage is looking better, the levels seem to be more expansive, and it's all so visceral.
If World At War doesn't manage to get the same level of critical acclaim that CoD 4 has recieved (I'm willing to bet money it won't), then I guess there's always the co-op element to fall back on.
Even bad games can be fun when you're playing them drunk with a good friend.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me have the flamethrower in multiplayer
setting an enemy player online on fire is one of the few things i dream of doing in a game and have yet to do. Keep the 5 different sniper rifles, shotguns, etc.
@Kotua - its cos its just not feasible with the engines pushing the machine so much. Halo 3 was obviously designed to allow it, and yet still had framerate issues at times. Hopefully it wont die out entirely though, its good fun.
It seems like they are really relying on the flamethrower to sell the game. While its nice, im not sure its that amazing.
Otherwise, game looks like a good WW2 shooter. Pity we already have lots of those...
I was excited until I realized it wasn't being made by Infinity Ward. Still, I hope it's good, because it looks damn cool and I love the focus on Japanese guerilla tactics and whatnot in the campaign.
It looks alright to me. From watching it, I don't get that "oh this part might make my blood pump" feeling that some of the COD4 videos used to give me... Hopefully the game will have some visceral pacing or it will just be another shooter :/
So is it me, or were japanese foot soldiers also kamikazes. In the first ambush they all just charge at you without shooting, and in the second one they pop out of the bushes to charge at you, instead of sniping at you. Defintely needs some AI tweaking. Also, the tank battle didn't look that hard. In COD4, if there had been such a battle, you woulda died every 10 seconds.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
When I saw the ugly animations I stopped watching. Someone tell me if it gets better.

I just WANT a flamethrower.
It was fun...buuut not quite Infinity Ward.
Well actually not even close, but I felt hope.
:(

I probably will pass this one up at full price, but when it drops to the 20-30 dollar range, I might be a little more interested.
Until then I've got the first call of duty for when I feel the need to fight in world war 2.
go play enemy territory or RTCW, they've had that for years :-) and yes, it is awesome fun to torch people online :-)
1) co-op
2) Kiefer Sutherland
3) flamethrower (i guess)
4) Kiefer fucking Sutherland
Defintely a dumbed down version of COD4.
For starters as someone stated above, the water effects look horrible. For me its more than that though, the level design looks terrible and boring.
I guess I will stick to my new copy of Battlefield BC.
