Thinking about the Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll trademark makes us tired photo

If there’s one gaming peripheral that could really put you "inside" Sega’s Super Monkey Ball, it’s the Wii Balance Board. If speculation surrounding a trademark is any indication, this match made in heaven may make this a reality.

Spotted by Kotaku's Michael "I never sent Nick those Meatbun shirts I told him I'd send him" McWhertor, Sega recently filed trademark for Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll. As you might recall, Sega released a Nintendo DS called Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll. That game required -- you guessed it -- touching. One can only guess that a game called Super Monkey Ball Step & Roll would require stepping, possibly on the Wii Balance Board. We guess that because we can’t think of any other “stepping” peripheral. Perhaps the Tony Hawk Ride board? Nah.

Anyone down for some potentially physical Monkey Ball activity?

I want a monkey ball where you are moving the monkey and not tilting the world.

I dunno, personally, I haven't enjoyed a Monkey Ball game since the ones on the GameCube, and I suspect it's because the game really needs to be controlled using an analog stick. Maybe that's just me, though.

Not just you Dex. Monkey Ball's "world tilting" is made for analog sticks (or the other way around, however you figure). The Wii version was a goddamn mess.

File this under "Neat Idea with (Likely) Ass Execution".

Yeah I hope analog support is included, Banana Blitz was pooptastic and I don't want to buy a balance board.

I agree the monkey ball series has became a big fat gimicky joke. At least do what Punch Out did and include a "Not retarded" option for controls.
