Things you can do in Green Day RB: export songs photo

We already know that that Green Day: Rock Band is coming thanks to last night’s VGA announcement. We know it will have music from Green Day and be a Rock Band game, for sure. But what about the details and most importantly will we be able to export the songs? The details are here now thanks to a press release and, yes, song exportation is a thing you can do.

It seems the game is going to function much like The Beatles: Rock Band, and take players through the career of the band with select famous venues and art that is selective to the band itself. Harmonix is touting the whole “extension and expression” of a band’s work once again, and they did such a great job doing it The Beatles: Rock Band doesn’t seem like bad news to me. The question is if Green Day warrants it.

Green Day doesn't deserve their own game, especially since the brief gameplay clip seems to suggest that the only interface tweaks besides custom avatars and stages is a different-looking vocal track. However, I have been hoping for a lot of their older songs to be added as DLC for Rock Band, and since this is exportable (and will hopefully end up a bit cheaper than buying the song packs), I really can't complain too much.

Just treat it like DLC or the AC/DC Live track pack (which converted to DLC) and you can't get too angry at it.

Green Day is the most overrated punk band along with the Sex Pistols. Dookie was their only great album and American Idiot was overrated. I heard them try to cover Social Distortion's "Another State of Mind"....sorry...Social D > Green Day. Hahaha, Bad Religion is more deserving of a game than Green Day...lol

The Who, The Clash, The Rolling Stones, U2, Pearl Jam, and even Springsteen are more deserving of games.

green day rock band? fuck that. "boulevard of broken dreams" ALONE is reason enough for this to not exist.

I love Green Day (kind of), but good lord, what a lousy choice to dedicate an entire game to. Not because the music is bad, but because holy shit, power chords are not fun to strum over and over in a music game.

This game really seems more of a way to remind the populace that Rock Band is still around while new Guitar Heroes get released every few months.

And I'm fine with that; but seriously, Green Day? Pass.

This can't possibly be fun to play, Greenday's music is pretty basic in its execution.

I think The Who: Rock Band would be extremely fun to play. Even if "The Who" name might not be too popular nowadays, all the instruments would be a challenge: drums (!!), bass, guitar (!) & vocal. Does Rock Band have a synthetizer?

Moon's drums would be fucking sick in Rock Band.

If they even had some sort of speaker in them that gave off an explosion after select songs, I'd be in musical heaven.

@Cami and Magnalon-

You guys know there's already like, if I remember correctly, 15 tracks by The Who available in Rock Band, correct? All of which are AMAZING to play on the drums? Though I certainly wouldn't mind more from them. The rest of the Live at Leeds stuff would be awesome.

As for this, I'm gonna go on record as saying older Green Day is...decent at best...not the worst band out there, but definitely not deserving of their own game, in my eyes. Though I don't doubt Harmonix having a specific reason for picking them. I have a feeling that this could turn out to be a lot better then I expect it will, but as for now I'm keeping my expectations relatively low, as I kinda stopped enjoying their watered-down brand of pop-punk long ago. Here's to hoping for something surprising/redeeming though, I guess.

Also, for the love of God Harmonix, if I see the entirety of American Idiot on the game while you ignore all but the 'hits' on Dookie/Nimrod, then I just might cry genuine tears.

I want a full game, with new custom Rock Opera play tweaks, and playable Who band members/sets/stadiums, similar to RB: The Beatles.

If there were three bands that deserve it, it would be The Beatles, The Who, and The Stones.

I'll give ya that one, The Who DEFINITELY deserves their own game even if they already have so much DLC. Especially considering that we already have so much of their songs but they have so much more awesome music left. And the things that could be done, like being able to play through the Leeds set in it's loud, raw, uncut glory, or seeing their cherished Rock Opera brought to interactive life similar to the soundscapes seen in The Beatles, or even the simple act of seeing the band age and progress through the years (I hope that if this game would ever happen, they don't simply cut it off after Keith Moon dies. The drums may never have that same iconic energy, but there were still some great tracks to come out of the post-Moon era). I honestly think it could happen someday.

Power chords FTL! Seriously, who wants to play the same shitty 3 chords song after song?As much as fans want to defend their shitty music since after Nimrod, there is no denying that this will be the most boring collection of songs to play ever. Green Day isn't suited for Rock Band and they definately aren't a good floor up the the Beatles.

Fucking Rock Band 3 better be innovative as shit or I'll finally be done and I've spent well over $300 on dlc.

Or Rock Band Rolling Stones. Rolling Stones would even make sense, as they did the Beatles, why not do another downright fantastic band of the past?

Green Day sucks, they used to be good pre dookie, I remember seeing them at a lounge with like 100 people in it, it was awesome, 3 years later, I saw them at an arena with thousands of people and BJ spazzed out and had a tantrum because someone threw a show onstage, they played for about 25 minutes.

Fuck Green Day

I think it goes without saying that there is an impressive list of bands that should have their own Rock Band game. I like punk music, but I'd rather have some Vandals dlc or even settle for some current Hellcat label content (god help me) than hours of Green Day songs. Emo music is fine, it's its own thing, but it still burns me to this day for some reason how Green Day has so blatantly set themselves up on the pop-emo stage. I mean, shit, they went from from vulgar T-shirts and ripped jeans to red ties and eyeliner in the span of a single album. That is the definition of sell-out, something this game will not be doing. Think about it...if Beatles:Rock Band didn't turn #1 then what chance does a former "I want my MTV" pop-punk band have?

I hope it's as vibrant as well-made as Beatles, rather than Lego Rock Band. If so, I think that's great.

Not that I'm super crazy about Green Day, but I *would* love to play Dookie. Their newer stuff can go ... blow a boat. Or something.

What I'd really really really love to see is Bad Religion Rock Band.

Perhaps not the series, per se, but what the franchise stands for is dead.

The developer gave these huge speeches on how much they respect the music industry, and the history's medium, touting that fact every step of the way during the marketing of Beatles: Rock Band.

But come to find out, money talks, and they actually just don't give a shit.

Though I'll freely wish death and plague upon bands like Green Day, Blink-182, 3 Doors Down and a dozen other mainstream rock sensations whose careers are comprised of 0.1% music/99.9% commercial-whoring, I'll always be more disappointed in the tasteless shit-for-brains populace who keeps them at the top with their blindly flying dollars and their complete lack of cultural standards/expectations.
