Thieves steal a Make-A-Wish recipient's PS3 photo

14-year-old Zak Touilii had only one great passion left in his life, the PS3 and the games given to him by the Make-A-Wish foundation. Last week, thieves broke into Zak’s Wollongong residence in Australia and took away his only respite from his terminal illness. Zak has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a degenerative disease characterized by the speed at which it hits its victims.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Zak asks the only question he can right now.

Why did they have to do that?
Zak’s mother, who also lost jewelry and appliances in the robbery, relates the moment in which her son found out his priceless was object gone.
He came flying out the front door and was just hysterical saying, 'Mum, they took my PlayStation.'

Yesterday, the Make-A-Wish Foundation lambasted the thievery and the extra amount of wretchedness required to do an already terrible thing to such an unlucky boy. No word was given if the Foundation was going to try to replace the system and games.

This is obviously a terrible act, and makes me question the sanctity of the human race. All I can hope for is that the authorities can catch the degenerates that did this and set this tragic event straight, for Zak’s sake. We may think of videogames as entertainment, but for Zak it was a release from an otherwise depressing life.

Hey, I have Duchenne, myself. And yeah, video games provide much needed escapism. Poor kid.

What fucking assholes. I hope they get hit by a train, and live, but die a slow and painful death.

Hope the kids gets his ps3 back or another.

Is it surprising to everyone that humans are capable of things like that? We don't know what we're doing 80% of the time, and the other 20% is something we're aware of doing, but still clueless of what we're even doing.

Anyways I hope he gets another PS3 to replace it, or finds someone else/something else to comfort him.

That is a pretty crappy thing for thieves to do. I wonder if they knew they were stealing from sick kid or if it was just a blind crime. If they did know I hope this makes it to all the news over there they get caught and they get special treatment in prison from the fellow inmates. And it would be nice if they didn't know they feel like complete douches right now and return the stolen goods(not that it would have been alright if they stole from a healthy kid more that they see the effects of their crime).

now THIS is the kind of thing that really grinds my gears, seriously.

As a child, i've spent many a day(years) in a hosp. due to reasons i won't go into but to steal something from someone who could put up little to no defense in said incident.

To those robbers/thieves/assholes:
May your limbs be dismembered one by one (without proper painkilling/anesthesia meds.) until you resemble Lt. Dan from -forest gump- without arms. And live out your days as a miserable vegetable.

dammit, now i got to go play some GTA to vent....

Its a sad thing to hear, I've had stuff stolen too and you feel like you've been raped.

Not saying theiving is alright or anything here, but... Did the theives target him because of the Make-A-Wish present PS3?
I mean, this sounds like they are bastards because they knowingly stole of an ill kid, not because they stole a PS3 in general.

I'm going to assume the thieves didn't know they were robbing a dying kid. It doesn't justify the crime obviously, but I'd rather not believe it was meant to be personal.

Hope the boy and his mother find some solace.

In the thieves' defense (did I really just say that?), they probably had no idea they were stealing from a Make-A-Wish recipient. Still, that's sad.

Regardless of if the thieves knew who they were stealing from they had to know a kid lived there and used that PS3. I had my game gear stolen (among other things) when I was robbed as a kid and let me tell you, it fucking sucks. I hope those bastards rot.

This seems like the kind of thing ChildsPlay could help with, if Sony doesn't step up. Still I'm good for $20 if someone has the time to figure out how much a PS3 costs in Australia and how to get the cash to this kid.

and yeah i don't think the thieves would check on the owner's health before breaking into a random house and tealing something.

still awful.

It's at times like this where I honestly think I could successfully take a human life without remorse. Thieves are wastes of human flesh as it is, but this makes it countless times worse.

Umm, obviously the thieves didn't know he was dying and that it was from the Make A Wish foundation, it was just a random robbery.

Still sucks, but it's not like they robbed the Make A Wish van on the way to his house, or took it out of his hospital room or something. It was just your typical home robbery.
