Thief-inspired The Dark Mod is now a standalone release

If like me you've been eagerly awaiting the release of Eidos Montreal's new Thief game, then this trailer for The Dark Mod might interest you. It's a full, standalone mod built in the Doom 3 engine that's been in the works for a few years now but has finally been released. It's got all the old-school thievery you'd expect, including the much-missed rope arrows. 

Whilst the trailer shows a game that looks rough round the edges, it's still an impressive attempt for a mod built up in a totally different game engine. The dynamic lighting looks well implemented, something that's always important in a stealth game.

I'd be downloading this now but the team's site is currently down. Here's hoping it's back online soon so I can get to blackjacking clumsy guards.
