These new Ninja Blade screens, let me show you them

     Ninjas

A few days ago, Microsoft revealed the FromSoftware Xbox 360 Ninja Blade and fans of both ninja and blades were thrilled. Today, Microsoft sends us more screenshots of the game which features a ninja, a blade, a futuristic city and monsters. I remember when I reviewed this game and it was called Ninja Gaiden II.

I kid, of course. I'm all for more ninja and more blades, so count me in on this one. As Microsoft tells us "armed with an arsenal of specialized ninja weapons, tools and skills, players will be given the epic task of defending Tokyo and ultimately humanity from a horrific, genetically mutating disease." I hope we get that cleared up before I head off to Japan for Tokyo Game Show.

Still, I'm hesitant to get too excited about this one. FromSoftware's ninja track record hasn't been so great as of late. And by "as of late" I mean the past five years. Did you guys play Tenchu Z? Yikes. Still, Otogi: Myth of Demons was a decent romp, so let's hope they get down to some action basics and we have ourselves a fun action title when Ninja Blade is released in 2009.

I didn't want the 20 other games on Xbox that are EXACTLY THE SAME DAMN THING AS THIS either.

Hey, Ninja Gaiden and Ninja Gaiden 2 were not perfect to begin with. If this game can take that already-established formula and make it better, then fuck originality, it'll still be an awesome game.

Of course, it's still far too early to draw any conclusions about it yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Looks a LOT like Ninja Gaiden. But I have a major weakness for ninjas so I'll keep an eye on it.

@tgammet

What 20 games are you referring to exactly? I only count one... Ninja Gaiden II.

Still underwhelmed. Why not at least give it a little bit of something to distinguish it from NGII?

I pray this turns out to be good. We need a fair and decent ninja game to rise up.

Shinobi has failed us, and Tenchu and Ninja Gaiden are beginning to do the same.
