"Project Beast" was unveiled last night as Bloodborne, a new action-RPG in development at Souls studio From Software exclusively for PlayStation 4.

The trailer hinted at a vibe that looks to be right in line with what series fans are into -- for starters, it takes place in a city called Yharnam that's cursed with "a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire," per PlayStation -- and here's more to go on courtesy of Famitsu.

As translated by NeoGAF, the game will have character customization, online elements, melee and long-range weapons (including guns!), and is looking at a spring 2015 release. So far so good. Bloodborne's combat is both action-oriented and strategic, and reportedly "designed to feel like a life or death struggle." That, and again, Hidetaka Miyazaki is back directing. So good.

These Bloodborne PS4s are kind of lazily done, but I want them

My launch PS4 died a few months ago. Yep, just up and died. So I had to pick up a new one, and figured hey, why not the Destiny white PS4 -- it's the same price, and I can give the pack-in game away. It was a good idea a...more

Heh, Bloodborne's Messengers sure are dapper

Instead of writing messages with a soapstone like in Dark Souls, we'll rely on these spooky fellows, the appropriately-named Messengers, to communicate with other Bloodborne players and see visions of how they foolishly rolle...more

Bloodborne's procedural Chalice Dungeons are full of horrors

Procedurally-generated dungeons in Bloodborne, huh? I didn't catch the PlayStation Experience demo showing them until now. Not something I would have expected for the game given how good From Software's hand-crafted worlds ca...more

The real nightmare is that this special edition Bloodborne pack isn't coming to North America

European desks are about to get a little more cluttered with the announcement of a special “Nightmare Edition” of Bloodborne. The €119 set comes with a variety of doodads, including a spooky looking quill set...more

New Bloodborne trailer shows off co-op, tons of blood

Bloodborne is probably my most anticipated game of 2015, and this trailer is just cementing that choice. You'll get a good look at the deliciously bloody gameplay, including some full-on co-op portions that look like a ton o...more

I want to run right past these gravekeeper hags in Bloodborne

Bloodborne isn't coming out until March. That means I have a solid few months to mentally prepare myself for these horrific things, described by Sony Japan Studio producer Masaaki Yamagiwa as "deformed gravekeeper hags." I do...more

Booooo: Bloodborne delayed until March 2015

I thought a February 2015 release date for the recently revealed Bloodborne was too good to be true, and it seems that was the case. The game is now on track for a March 24 launch, delaying the game by roughly a month. F...more

I still haven't beaten that Bloodborne TGS demo

Usually seeing a demo you played just a month ago means there isn't too much more to wring out. This is not the case with Bloodborne. The Tokyo Game Show demo bested me. That same demo was playable today at Paris Games Week. ...more

Bloodborne developer targeting 30fps

When Bloodborne arrives next year on the PS4, it will clock in at 30 frames per second. This is apparently because that rate is the "best" for action games, according to producer Masaaki Yamagiwa. In an interview with Pl...more

Bloodborne's last alpha session takes place on October 19, with multiplayer

Majora's Mask 3D bosses are considerably different
