It's a shame they won't be expanding on the idea in a sequel, but I look forward to Double Fine's new projects.
He's a problem alright. And like most problems all it really takes is a team of highly trained assassins, some C4, guns, and a couple one way tickets to France.
Brutal Legend was good nut not as good as it should've been. Certainly not for a Schaefer game either. Some of those issues, like dialog being cut off when scripted events occurred, were really amatuerish mistakes.
In the future someone could pick up the license and do it justice I think because universe was magnificent but the game had faults most of which, the largest isssues of all the issues in fact, were easily avoidable.
I just want Psychonauts 2 and some new stuff.
Also, manasteel88, remember, Psychonauts definitely had somewhat of a hub world with Whispering Rock.
Modern games guide the player through their stories and missions like he's a blind one-legged mental defective kid. Tip: remember to press X button to attack, like we said earlier in the tutorial at the start of the game 8 hours ago.
Anyway, this game doesn't need a sequel, it's good enough as it is.
Hype and misleading demos ruin games that might have gone fine on their own fuel. Schafer would do well to rememer this
1) Brutal Legend would have sold gangbusters if it was just a hack and slash
2) It had style, and soul, it just wasn't executed very well
The whole "get up personal" approach? A total shambles.
All that being said, I don't feel the game needs a sequel. In my opinion, it hit all the marks it was trying to hit and a a sequel wouldn't do much except improve some of the combat elements. Everything else was already damn near perfect, from the writing to the open world.
Take all this with a grain of salt however. It's coming from the guy who greatly enjoys Scribblenauts. I have a knack for ignoring the bad elements of games I like.
Still love you Tim, but stick to the funny and interesting and stay away from RTS.
It sold tons, though. It cracked a million so it'd be nice to know what its dev costs were. If EA and double fine thought it was a flop, I wonder how much it was supposed to sell?
It boils down to whether you like RTSs or not, I suppose. Keep this in mind though: BLs action and racing elements were pretty mediocre; it was no Bayonetta and it was no NFS. But what it DID was crack the RTS nut on consoles in an interesting and fun way that wasn't complex or deep enough for my tastes, nor probably for most RTS gamers, but still it embarked on an intrigueing new direction that I would like to have seen more of.
All he needs is love.
PSYCHONAUTS 2 YOU GODDAM BASTARD! TIM! I AM COMING FOR YOUR HEAD!
