There's a Dead Rising film in the works at Legendary Digital Media, reports Variety.

A director hasn't been named yet, but Tim Carter and Tomas Harlan of Contradiction Films (Mortal Kombat: Legacy) are writing / producing, and Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura is executive producing. The movie will debut on Crackle here in the US and be distributed internationally by Content Media Corp (Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn).

As someone who likes the series primarily for its quirkiness, I can't see this turning out well for me. I feel as if they're going to play it entirely straight. Also, wonder what the budget is.
