Developer GSC Game World plans to drop the second follow-up to the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. this October in North America. Dubbed Call of Pripyat, this upcoming and stand-alone title (think Clear Skies) will push players deeper into the universe’s story, specifically within the confines of the busted-up Zone center. What awaits people in this place? Hooded old men with magical shields and some sort of pox.

A lengthy teaser for the title was released yesterday afternoon. A hovering camera lingers on the environment of the title for a good clip, slowly revealing a maze of buildings and even some green stuff. Eventually, the focus is shifted to the protagonist as he shuffles through a dilapidated building with some sort of old-man-midget-monster following him.

Call of Pripyat seems like it will be a S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-ass S.T.A.L.K.E.R. title. Are any of you thinking about picking this up when it hits this fall? Or are you S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'ed out?

You had way too much fun typing S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

The first STALKER was brilliant but Clear Sky was dissapoiting. I probably going to give it a try.

I really liked the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but I didn't get the second one.

Anyhow, I'm up for more S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

i will keep playing STALKER for as long as they keep making it. already replayed SOC, and partway through CS in anticipation of this game.

from the look of the trailer it's not going to be too different from the last two which is fine by me. i just hope they sort out some of the performance problems that came with the new XRAY engine in CS. a little SMT could go a long way!

Is this coming out for ps3? If not I'll buy it for 360 (unless there's online, then I'll pirate it).

PC, and do the right thing by supporting the developer and buying the damn game. If you want it on 360 they're porting the original game over after they finish development on this one.

@Kraid: yeah, that'd be amazing. Hopefully they're step the graphics up a little bit. Even if not, I'll probably still buy it.

The video was ok, in spite of the carefullly placed poorly rendered head. I did like the atmosphere very much, with TRULY dark outside environments occasionaly lit by lightning.

I don't think I've seen that particular lighting trick ever since Ninja Gaiden 2 on the NES. There gotta be some more recent game who used that in some way. I just can't seem to remember any.

But really, that short monster just killed it.

Yep, apparently so. They got 360 certified recently and they've hinted at a port.

Those Dwarf guys were cut from the original. The Oblivion Lost mod added them back in. I enjoyed the first one, even the vanilla game. I'm just hoping they have put the polish on this time to deliver a great official experience.

Sorry I phrased that sentence incorrectly, I meant: They're 360 certified and they've hinted at a port a lot recently in fact I also just came across this: http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/xbox-xbox-360/37669-s-t-l-k-e-r-xbox-360-but-wont-come-out-before-pripyat.html

Does want. If you get the oblivion lost mod for SOC you can fight those little dwarf guys like the one in this trailer. I'll tell ya, they might be small but they are tough little mofos.

Compare the trailer for Assassin's Creed to the trailer for Call of Pripyat and you can tell those guys are foreign with a capital DASVIDANYA.

Some of the best news in a long time. I find something oddly fascinationg about the STALKER series. Russian wasteland = win.

@timtheterrible

I will admit, that thing looks really stupid. I cant see what the second thing is but that looks classic zombie.

I lost my faith in GSC a long time ago so I'm biased, but here's what I saw and heard in that trailer; no new textures, no new models, no new effects, no new sounds and no new maps. An optimist might say they've been fixing the bugs and had no time to add new features.
