There are no 'immediate plans' for Battlefield 1943 DLC photo

Why hasn’t EA DICE released DLC for Battlefield 1943? In a conversation with Joystiq at PAX ’09, game producer Gordon Van Dyke pegged the studios’ focus on Battlefield 3 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 as the culprits. Van Dyke made it said the studio is considering the quality of those two titles instead of BF1943 DLC quantity.

"We don't have any immediate plans right now, but it's not ruled out,” said Van Dyke. “There's a lot of pressure on the team for Battlefield 3 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 ... we don't want to stretch things too thin and make something that's not up to quality.”

Battlefield 1942 [Ed. Note: we assume he meant “1943”] is a huge game with a lot that we can pull from. We just want to make sure we keep our options open, and make sure that the decision we land on is what's best for everyone. We don't want to be that company that pushes out DLC just for DLC's sake,” he said.

We’re floored -- and we’re guessing you might be, too -- that DICE hasn’t capitalized on the massive success of its downloadable title yet, but if the studio plans to take this approach, we’re more than happy to wait. Strong DLC is always better than the rushed need-to-capitalize-right-now-here’s-a-map-pack stuff we see so often. Take your time, guys.

I'm starting to love DICE. BF:BC was my first full exploration of the Battlefield series, and it was awesome. I also love how as soon as there were problems with BF:1943, they were already on their forums assuring people a fix was on the way. In light of developers like Epic who would rather ban you from their forums for pointing out a problem in their shit game Gears 2, DICE looks amazing from my consumer opinion.

I love the Battlefield series so I'm torn here. I really want my next big Battlefield for PC(BF3) and I want them to dedicate most of their time on making that an awesome game. But I did get 1943 for the PS3 and love it. I already want more, even if it is just a few maps. I cant see why they don't hire more people and why did they waste so much time/resources on BF: Heroes?

Well, I love Mirror´s Edge and Battlefield 1943 (which is my first Battlefield-Experience ever). I hope they put some DLC out for 1943, but I understand the developer. They are really good at what they are doing...

Too bad, this game really needed a DLC. You know, the one that makes it A BATTLEFIELD GAME instead of a cheap, dumbed down mockery of the game we've spent so many hours playing...

they should just add night time to the 4 maps and be done
yeah battlefield at night no more sniping from 4 bases away
no more tanks shooting across the map or planes shooting u as easy
it would definitely be bad @$$

I think he meant the ORIGINAL 1942 has a lot of content they could use in 1943. I.e. new maps, etc.

1943 needs GOOD DLC... not just DLC. I'm glad that the developers themselves can acknowledge this fact.
