A new Starcraft 2 trailer has finally been released earlier tonight in Korea. Blizzard showed off the new trailer and GameVideos has the offscreen footage. This time, the Zerg are shown off and they're ready to make a comeback. A female voice, who is more than likely Kerrigan, tells of what has happened to the Zerg in the four years after the original Starcraft. The Zerg have evolved and the swarm is stronger than ever.

Am I the only one who got goosebumps here? The epic music, the new Zerg creatures and seeing just how much action and characters can be on the battlefield at one time is simply amazing. Hopefully a high-res version of the trailer comes out ASAP. Until then, what did you think of the new trailer?

Did my eyes deceive me, or did I see some Ultralisks in there? ;)They've been keeping the Zerg under wraps until now.

First game is one of my all-time favorites; the sequel is a day-one purchase for me.

With all my planned purchases for the consoles, this one kinda got pushed back on my priority list. Luckily, I haven't forgotten about it, and this trailer just reminded me how much I want this game.

We should have gotten this trailer first. At an American (or even European) show or event. Bullshit, Blizzard. I really resent that THEY get to see this (which they won't even understand, because they don't speak English in Korea) before your loyal fanbase.
ThelolDranger's Avatar
ThelolDranger at 03/10/2008 07:14
Yes, I know that Starcraft is extremely popular in Korea, so popular that they play it nationally to this day (which is pathetic, there are lots of other games out there), even though they don't understand the game (it's only available in English even now, if you didn't know). "OOH! Zerrot beat Maline! I WEEN!"

The RTS genre isn't my favorite, but I wasted many summer evening making zerglings. I know I'm going to get murdered when I play online, but I don't even care, I can't wait.
Peteru's Avatar
Peteru at 03/10/2008 08:02
I hope u'll get some managable "squads" for zergs in SC2. Hopefully it's not 10 groups of zerglings under each digit and nightmarish clickfest to make them attack at once again.

WC3 had fewer units - so control up to single duels of units in micro was all right. But from what was shown here - SC2 will have even more units than it's predecessor. If there's the same control as in SC1 - micro will rule every game, even more than in original SC. The fastest clicker will be the victor.

Micro is the backbone of the RTS genre and people who think it's just about clickspam are mistaken. It's your ability to make decisions and choices at that speed that matters. Almost anyone can clickspam 200+ APM if they really want to. The good players can do it while making strategic choices that matter.

And Korea deserves the first for SC2 they're far far more loyal to the game than any other place.

How can you argue that the most dedicated and fanatical fanbase shouldn't see the trailer first. The world doesn't revolve around the USA, live with it.

Amazing. Korea deserved to see this first. My wife is from Korea, and she's not a gamer by any means, yet she knows the name of every unit.
When I was visiting last year, I found two cable channels devoted almost %100 to Starcraft, and a little bit of SF(Special Force....CS ripoff) The game still cost
Noah's Avatar
Noah at 03/10/2008 11:16

Got goosebumps from that vid, no matter how low quality it is. And yeah, the backbone of every RTS is the micro. If you want something with less micro play DotA or something (which I do, I totally suck at Warcraft).

Terrain now plays a major factor, more units, siege lines are no longer a constant threat (for the protoss at least) and a bigger dependence on unit combinations. Can't wait.

And lastly, BLIZZARD, PLEASE UPDATE THE PROMOTIONAL SITE TO INCLUDE THE ZERG!

I agree with Logo and Noah here. Koreans absolutely deserve first glimpse. They are far more loyal to it. I think you'll be able to select up to 24 units at a time on this game, from what I've heard. Blizzard did update their site, now including Hydralisk and Mutalisk on their unit page. I just can't wait to see what blizzard gives Zerg to counter all of Terran and protoss' cheap units. I think Terran is going to be over powered in this one, just like Brood wars =/. Can't wait to see.
