The X-COM series comes to Steam on the cheap photo

As of today, X-COM: UFO Defense, X-COM: Terror From the Deep, X-COM: Interceptor, X-COM: Enforcer, and X-COM: Apocalypse are all up for grabs on Steam.

Each title will set you back by $4.99 if you purchase them individually, but buying them as a package will run you $14.99. However, if you want to save yourself even more money, get the games now while they're 10% off in price.

Truth be told, I've never played any of the X-COM games before. I know X-COM: UFO Defense is heralded as one of the best PC strategy games of all time, but it's one of those situations where you promise to do something, and then it completely slips your mind about five minutes later.

Consider this a confession to another one of my gaming sins. Now excuse me while I go repent to the gaming gods.

X-Com: UFO Defense is the most tension-filled game I ever played.

You have to juggle so many variables: movement, fatigue, research, resource management. And even if you nail every facet, your men could turn coward and run. I love this series so much.

Thanks for the heads up.

"cheap" and "steam" are two words I love to see in the same sentence.

I liked the X-com games I played. Difficulty with a near endless amount of things to completely dork out. The fantasy military strategist's wet dream.

Got all these first time around but holy heckers, tempted to get them again just so I can install them now :)

If people are quick, can still grab the original from Home of the Underdogs here

Ohhh shit! I love X:Com, I remember playing it a long time ago, but not being too good at it because I was little and was like WTF do I do, so I just threw nades at aliens and tried to blow them up haha, good times.

I've actually got a copy of X-COM: Apocalypse. I love what I had played so far, and I'd love to install and play it again.

This news is the Strat-cherry on the RPG-based cake. :OD

I nearly came.

But I realized I have a Mac.

Then I cried.

I loved this game to death when it came out, the others feel a bit contrived, though.

If only they actually finished the remake... ;)

@Tubatic: I have a Mac too. But if you have an Intel mac, you can use CrossOver Games (or WINE).

X-com: UFO Defense has to be one of the hardest, suspenseful, and addicting games I have ever played. I have a copy of the gold edition saved on my USB stick so I can play it anytime I have a few minutes! I simply love this game!

I agree with zeph. Those games were hard if only because most of the soldiers you get have crappy stats. Cowardly bastards.

Holy Crap! This is the first time I've commented in a long, long time.

X-com UFO defense is one of the greatest games of all time, and is a must download!

Oh man, I can try this game for a second time now and get absolutely owned again. Lol, such an awesomely complicated game that is difficult to learn but very rewarding once you have a good strat in place. I just couldn't stick with it for some reason, constantly replaying until I got it right was a bit too old school, even for me.

I have never ever purchased something so quickly. From the moment I saw the Steam Update I was finished purchasing in less than 20 seconds. I didn't even read what was included, I just saw "X-Com"...yeah I love the first 3 to death. Glad I got the other 2 I never played (mainly because reviews said they sucked or weren't faithful).

Best pack ever on Steam.
