The Witcher patch 1.5 strips DRM, also adds user content photo

The latest patch for The Witcher is a good one. In addition to adding five adventures created by the game’s dedicated fan base to the main game, Patch 1.5 eliminates the game’s copy protection and allows players to freely kill monsters without a disc. But, wait, that’s not all: CD Projekt RED has also solved the mystery behind those pesky EAX graphical bugs. A fix for that has been included in this patch as well.

Like we said, this patch was a good one.

In a recent blog posting, CD Projekt RED said that this patch is “the next stage of The Witcher’s life,” and also a means of expressing thanks to the game’s community who have been creating and sharing numerous adventures with the use of the D'jinni creation tools.

We’re guessing this isn’t the last time we’ll write a The Witcher story and talk about an officially endorsed patch carrying user-created levels, so if you’re interested, get to work. A Mr. Destructoid-themed labyrinth needs to happen.

Oh nice, I can put the disc away now. Though... I'm guessing those horrible game breaking graphic glitches I was getting on this system probably aren't related =/

The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf
on Xbox 360, can't wait!
P.S. Isn't EAX a sound sistem from Creative Labs (Like Dolby Digital)? How can a sound sistem have graphical bugs?

Did they add a way to pause or replay dialog yet? I never got past the tutorial stage because the dog wanted out and I missed the whole damn thing.

Now if they could only put out a patch to make the game fun, ho ho ho easy now. I know there's a good game in there somewhere, just couldn't find it.

Its a very good game, in the tutorial stage I tought Meh... but later it sucks you in the gameplay and story. Like Yahtzee said: It's a mmorppegga! It has some MMO feel to it. Must be all the fech quests.
TW:RotWW canceled? I must consult Wikipedia!

Doesn't sound good, some say it's even cancelled. I was really looking forward for this game, I played it on the PC, and I would like to see what would they do on the consoles, there was a new engine and combat sistem.

Would someone make Anthony Birch play this game so he will stop complaining about games doing moral choices wrong. Because The Witcher is a shining example of a morality system done right.

Laffs, I didn't download this some time ago. It was fun, that's probably what I would have said if I downloaded it.

good for them, i would say its bad if people download the game, but they should still get rid of the need for cd to be in the pc so you can play any game at all. Who wants to have their cd/dvd scrathed by the laser, think of all those OLD games you cant buy, geting them ruined cus you play them to much

@harkandeath,

"Who wants to have their cd/dvd scrathed by the laser,"

If that's happening, may I suggest purchasing a new CD-Rom drive? That would be quite the defect.
