CD Projekt Red has been making a big to-do about an announcement being made today. After months of speculation and assumption, the developer confirmed in a live streaming presentation that their hugely popular RPG, The Witcher 2, will be seeing release on home consoles when it arrives for Xbox 360 later this year.
Speaking to the internet, representatives from CD Projekt Red claimed that the console version would sport graphics very near if not at the quality level found in the PC release. In addition, all DLC updates released for the PC version prior to the Xbox 360 launch will be included in the new version.
We've been hearing through the grapevine that a console release was practically a sure thing for what feels like an eternity. Nice to get the confirmation, though I'm sure there are some PS3 folks out there who feel a little bummed out that they aren't going to get in on this action.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I just feel more comfortable on my couch with my controller.
@Eternal Thank you for sharing that with us I'm sure you wiener feels a little less smaller now.
Not really. The events of the first are occasionally referenced, but they aren't really central to the second at all.
Was expecting something new to be announced, but I suppose this makes sense and all. Wonder if it will span multiple disks. Regardless, I've my own PC version all ready so it doesn't really effect me I suppose.
seriously CD PROJEKT FUCK YOU
"the console version would sport graphics very near if not at the quality level found in the PC release"
I think that is an outright lie, at least for anyone playing on a mid-range or higher PC...
I hope it means we'll see another game from them in a few years too.
I just feel more comfortable on my couch with my controller.
Actually it had nothing do with the size of my dick or tooting my own horn. I was simply making note of how strange it is that even now I have a good PC and have had one for the past few years, I still don't bother to ever play anything on it.
PC games are cheaper and feature better graphics and shit like that and yet I still choose to use my consoles instead.
So chill the fuck out, grow up a little, and show some respect. Just because you can hide your bitch ass behind a computer doesn't mean you need to act like a loser.
Funnily enough, I already played it on my couch with a controller. Seriously, why do people act like computers can't be hooked up to an HDTV in the living room? o_O
Anyway, I wish they would have went ahead with Rise of the White Wolf first. They were supposed to upgrade the combat to be more like it is in TW2, which would have been awesome as fuck, and console gamers would have had access to both games and not just a sequel. Either way, this is still great for those of you who haven't played it yet.
I have never seen that before....I lol'd!
Don't have a computer capable of running this, so the announcement is fantastic news.
CD Projekt Red, we love you. Not only did you not try to develop all versions together and screw them up in the process, but you decided to take your time. And now we'll get the DLC, too? <3
Fuck them? Seriously? Fuck one of the ONLY companies to actually give a shit about their customers just because they didn't ask YOU what systems YOU had first?
Get off your fucking high horse and get a new hobby. I think paper clip collecting would suit you nicely.
If a dude offers me my choice of armor after beating him in poker dice, I want armor and not a diagram for studded armor dammit!
They're shit but please put your ahitty game on the console I own.
Comment of the year.
Why not just do what i do; connect computer to 42" hdtv then proceed to plug controller into computer.
I can now officially be excited about this game and care and shit!
Meanwhile people who own all consoles (or just a 360) laugh at the PS3-only children. :3
Just kidding, I just love watching all the stupid angry fanboys rage.
What's wrong kids? Cant afford more than one console?
