CD Projekt RED's sequel to The Witcher has been announced -- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The reveal was accompanied by an epic reveal trailer, which you'll definitely want to check out after the jump.
The trailer promising "dazzling state of the art visuals," "captivating mature and non-linear storytelling," and "dynamic combat with vast tactical capabilities." So... like the first game, right? Based on what we're shown in the trailer, it looks like the series' lead Geralt is back, and given quite a makeover for the sequel. What do you think of his new look?
The Witcher 2 has a "TBA" release date, but this trailer already shows off quite a bit of polished work. Let's hope we don't have to wait two years for a release.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?

Some PC-fanatics will argue that this should always be a PC-only affair, but more money (from console port sales) equals bigger budget and reputation for the developer, and that equals better Witchers.
Right now I want to play a new The Witcher, I hope they give some love to consoles.
I'm not so sure they have, I watched this on Gametrailers early this morning and they have it down as CD Projekt as both developer and publisher. I don't know if this was a mistake or if CD Projekt have put up the trailer to get a publisher. Which would kind of make sense with the previous 'leaks' and the way the trailer has the sales figure etc before any gameplay. Either way this trailer made me extremely happy and I can't wait for it to be released although I wouldn't want it to be rushed so I have to wait for the enhanced edition again to play it.
Unlike PS3 vs. 360 there are real, large differences between PC gaming and console gaming ability. Wishing for no console version usually means a MUCH better PC version, which is why PC gamers do so. It's not being an elitist fanboy or whatever else console players like to call us, we just want the best version possible.
All that said, I thought it was already announced The Witcher 2 was multiplatform anyway? Though hopefully the PC is the lead platform.
Color me freaking ecstatic.
Someone mentioned that Eastern Europe has been rocking some great games in the past few years. I've noticed the trend too, but I think what it is really about is the fact that they are trying to make good games, not make big budget mainstream titles.
How about that console port?
The game's looking great if the graphics are like the trailer's, but I hope the 3rd person camera has been fixed to be actually behind the player (on the side? Really? And I'm supposed to guess where he's going?) and the combat isn't mouse click. ><
