The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings video leaked, possibly photo

CD Projekt RED isn’t done with The Witcher. In fact, the first title was just the beginning. Polish Web site Polygamia spotted a supposedly leaked internal video for The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings. In the video, CD Projekt CEO Marcin Iwinski introduces the viewer to the upcoming sequel and talks briefly about a variety of new mechanics including a new dynamic night and day system, as well as new dialogue and combat systems.

Also, there is a dragon. A dragon that spits fire. Dynamic fire.

We’re not sure if this is actually a bit of confidential video or not. This almost smells like a viral thing. That said, this could be a video CD Projekt is using to fish for a publisher for the sequel. We’ll drop some e-mails about it. In the meanwhile, check out the video below the fold.

Can't wait for this game... the original Witcher was one of my favorite games this DECADE.

That said, since this one is multiplatform I really hope they don't dumb it down for consoles.

Ooh, sounds good. We could always use more naked-lady trading cards.

sounds like they are trying to pull a fable for features.

I don't like the QTE thing. I really don't.

@StingingVelvet - Also, be careful. This isn't confirmed as multi-plat.

Who said it's going multiplatform?

The Witcher is one of my favorite RPG's in a long long time, and it's sad that so few people played it. It also has one of the best endings I've seen in a long while... it really makes you think.

Hell yes! I've been wanting a new Witcher game for some time.

However, I highly doubt that this was accidentally leaked, as it is a blatant advertisement for the game. Were it a leaked video I'd think it would most likely just be some cinematics or gameplay and not a Iwinski saying, "Hello, this is a video showing you the game we are working on."

Either way, I'm stoked that you posted this. Thanks!

I wouldn't call the "technology" of QTEs and "innovation" by any means. That being said, it looks pretty good outside of that.

But LOOLLOLO at the voice acting. Tommy Wiseau's "The Room", anyone?

It going multiplatform is very likely, as far as I know, although not officially confirmed yet (since the game hasn't been officially announced).

If it's indeed leaked, the video was probably intended as a pitch for potential publishers.

@ T-rav - I sincerely doubt those are the final voices. If anything, they'd bring back the guy who did Geralt's voice in the first one.

Yeah, the voices are likely just placeholders for now.

I kinda hoped those would make it to the final game, actually. :P

The Witcher is an excellent adult RPG that had a truly branching, deep and intriguing story. This is great news.

Awesome, I loved the original and the badass samurai Gerault looks just as fun.

@TewDee I'm pretty sure you're right about the voices since it's only an Alpha version. At least I hope you're right.

@ Brad

I thought it was confirmed, but I guess not officially? In any case, we're all pretty sure it is happening, and I personally don't want another Oblivion scenario.

Perhaps you're thinking of the canceled Witcher: Call of the White Wolf? (Or something named like that).

YES PLEASE.

I'm still in the middle of the first one but it's goddamn brilliant.

@Zodiac

They can't be. I want old badass Geralt.

There have been lots of rumors from reliable sources here in Poland about The Witcher 2 being multiplatform from the get go (and about the Rise of the White Wolf being a form of preparation for that).

Looks great, but I gotta agree with Brad, the addition of QTEs is disappointing.

Looks incredible. Seems like they have really polished the graphics up a good bit, too.

Excited.

The QTE shown is nothing more then the sword attacking zoomed in. If you were zoomed out, you'd just be clicking at a certain time anyway for the next attack.

Yay! More actiony-RPGs! Keep'em coming developers! Never played the first Witcher, hopefully it comes to consoles, so I can get my grubby mitts on it. Didn't the first one have collectible sex cards or something? That sounds naughty.

Sinner.

Game looks cool, but the way they are using QTE's looks FUCKING TERRIBLE. It's the same shitty "watch a cut scene and observer what is going OMG SMALL BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM CLICK IT oh the scene finished. What's that, you don't know what happened because you were too busy looking at and clicking a button? Oh well."

If your combat system is so shit the only cool things you can make happen are pre-scripted events, IMPROVE YOUR COMBAT SYSTEM.

I liked the first one quite a bit. I'm glad to see it getting a follow-up.

The new voice for Geralt (if it's not placeholder) sucks bawls compared to the old one.

The swordplay animations are pretty much the same.

QTEs suck.

But holy shit, look at how powerful the knockback sign is now...Wow.

Dammit, the gameplay still looks clumsy as hell. I loved the first game but combat really failed to nail any sort of balance beetween attacks and mobility. Dodging alfays felt weird and you were always at the game's mercy. Other than that, it was a wonderful experience with impressive production values.

This game has the blight of QTEs! That said, it looks great.
