I'm pretty much done with local multiplayer these days so there's no point in getting a 2nd Game Pad (hardly got much use out of a 2nd Wii remote anyway beyond Wii Sports and Mario Kart). Still, it's surprising how expensive it is priced at. I was expecting it to be under $100.

Otherwise, it says in the title "in Japan" and the currency has been helpfully converted to a more digestible format for the readership of the site.
Personally, I hope all reports from the worldwide launch are now converted to Yen with no mention of the western pricing to make up for such a horrendous overestimation of the intelligence of people who read the site.

So... this means my current motes and nunchuks wont be compatible with the new WiiU or just that the new motes wont be compatible with my old Wii?
@Churros - They're the same Wiimotes and Nunchuks as before. They're compatible with both. Its the WiiPad and Pro Controller that are new and only compatible with Wii U.
Did it get changed somewhere along the lines, or doesn't this thing only support one gamepad anyway? So I see no need for the freaking out, I mean obviously the orginal purchase of the system will include one (I'm sure you pay for it, no doubt) but since it only supports one, why would you need to buy another, replacement I can see, but "second" no point... So, essentially the $175 would be to replace half of your broken system if you were to break this thing, if you don't big deal...
