The Wii drought is officially over at your local GameStop photo

If you know anyone who is still desperately searching for a Wii, their day may have finally come. In a recent interview with GameSpot, GameStop's exec VP of merchandising and marketing, Tony Bartel, revealed some information about the retailer' stock situation for Christmas 2008:

We actually have slightly over a week's supply of Wiis, which is great. We haven't been there ever since the launch, and so we're excited about being there.

Great! Sounds like you can't possibly fail at getting one this year -- that is, if you haven't paid double to get one of Ebay already. All this clamor over getting the chance to waggle a Wiimote ... I'll never fully understand it, but having bought the Power Glove, I can't claim to be above the hype, either.

Yeah, I bought the Power Glove too. I mean, it wasn't as bad as people said it was... but then again I was like 7-years-old at the time.

On that note, I want to sell my Wii for a billion dollars.

Yup I was out shopping last week and the week before and remember seeing a lot of them on shelves, and a lady in front of me buying one. Now that they are getting "easier" to find will that make people want them less? Perceived scarcity turns people into animals when buying stuff like this.

I still don't understand why there's been a shortage in the first place. You would think a shortage of decent games would keep a game console from selling well. Meh.

Because some people actually buy what they like, and that's not always bald space marines shooting things!

Yeah because I'm the only one on Dtoid who generalizes things LOL. Anything mentioned about the Wii on this site gets generalized. Well it can work both ways you know?
