The upcoming The Who DLC for Rock Band we reported on not long ago has been revealed, and it's probably not what you were expecting.
During the Super Bowl Halftime Show this Sunday, The Who is scheduled to perform a mash-up of its songs. That very day, a previously recorded version of the performance will be made available for download in Rock Band. How's that for a fast turnaround?
The track is coming for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii for 160 MS Points, $1.99, and 200 Wii Points respectively.

also , YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr!
A) It's not a sample mash-up. It's a live mash-up. This means everything's been tuned to work together and The Who reperformed this song. So essentially it's a new song using bits from old Who songs. Like The Beatles did on several occasions.
B) This may not be a mash-up in the DJ Hero sense. It could be bits of each song transitioning into each other spanning The Who's catalog. That's what I'm guessing it is.
Words can't express how ignorant that post sounded. I'll be civil and leave it at that. Way to bash something you have no fucking clue about at all.
The Who, that is good.
A Smash up of some of the best of the who, and you can jam it in the pre game show before they show you how to do it right. To borrow one of Chad's lingustic statments AMAZING!
Yes Petty was better, but the Who beats that flabby jawded old fart from the Stones any day.

Yeah, I kind of misunderstood the concept. Still, I would prefer new songs over things I may already have in Rock Band. The actual Live version of the song might be very interesting, but it's going to be a pre-recorded thing so I know it won't be as tantalizing.
I dunno. With all due respect to The Who these days they're far better in studio where they can layer their stuff and perfect it than live. Don't get me wrong they're great live but it's hard not to acknowledge that their age is definitely catching up with them. I wouldn't be surprised if the Super Bowl was their last show. At least as The Who. Daltrey might try to do some stuff solo but I think Townshend is getting tired.
It's a shame, because The Who used to actually be better live than in their studio albums, as Live at Leeds shows.
I mean, sure, this isn't EXACTLY what you meant, but I'd count a super-medley/megamix as a mashup any day. Oh, and I should mention that this is absofreakinlutely get behind. This totally makes up for trimming down My Generation's medley section.
Live at Leeds showcases some of the best Bass playing ever, which is why a few of the tracks are already in Rock Band. The Who have about 15 songs already in the Rock Band catalog, I don't know why a Medley is the best course of action.
