Much much much better? Let's not get nuts. Gag dubs don't beat out straight-faced farce...except maybe Samurai Pizza Cats.
What perfect timing, I just yesterday finished a re-watch of this series (as well as the Yugioh, Naruto, and Yuyu Hakusho abridged series).
Love DBZA so much. I can't figure out if it's worth recommending to people that haven't seen DBZ though. Not sure where my appreciation for this really comes from. Nostalgia + Retrospective comedy? Or is it good on it's own?

It's hardly a completely gag dub like Samurai Pizza Cats. It follows the same story, some characters are exaggerated to the extreme while only a few are completely rewritten. I just think the writing is phenomenal, completely superior to at least the Funi dub.

tekbunny: Dragon Ball Z is about as definitive and classic as the character in your avatar in it's respective field and country. That is all.
You know, at a certain point I noticed that, even under the satire, DBZ's story as shown on Abridged was much better than I remembered, and I wondered why. Then I realized: because it is ABRIDGED, and you can actually remember why each person is going to a place when they take two five-minute episodes to arrive, as opposed to five half-hour ones.
Bottom line: DBZA is a parody so great it even improves the original.

DBZA is great, but am weird for liking the filler episodes in DBZ? I tried to watch DBZ Kai recently but it's just not the same.
