The Week in Rock Band DLC: Toby Keith, beer for his horses photo

Those lamenting the lack of modern country music in Rock Band (there are people like that, right?), worry no more -- next week's store update brings not one, but six Toby Keith tracks to the music title. Songs include:

  • "Beer for My Horses"
  • "I Love This Bar"
  • "She's a Hottie"
  • "Should've Been a Cowboy"
  • "Who's Your Daddy?"
  • "How Do You Like Me Now"

Songs hit Xbox LIVE Marketplace and PlayStation Network on April 7 and April 9, respectively. It'll cost you $9.99 (800 MS Points for Xbox 360) for the full pack, or $1.99 (160 MS Points for Xbox 360) per track.

We're not here to judge the music (seriously, this guy has songs called "Who's Your Daddy?" and "How Do You Like Me Now"?), but considering how much music Keith sells, he's doing something right. And this has got to be great news for fans of his music; the more varied the available music for Rock Band the better, that's what we say. Now where the f**k is some Prince, guys?

One could guess that more tracks by country artists are on the way, too; a few retailers have listed a Rock Band Country Track Pack, set for release in a few months. As it stands, there doesn't appear to be enough country content on the Rock Band store to fill an entire retail disc. But we have a feeling there will be by the time the pack is released this summer.

Don't forget about THIS week for Rock Band.

Don't know if it's an April Fools Joke or not, but apparently Spongebob is going to hit Rock Band. It's still...wow. Still in shock.

At least Journey is being released this week so that's a plus.

As for the current news, I guess some Country wouldn't hurt.

@EX35:

We haven't forgotten about that (think we did a story on it when it was announced last week). It's not a joke, either... as far as I know. Or maybe it is? God, I don't know. Maybe it is. Haha.

:D

Thank god. Between getting this week's Journey and Pat Benatar, last week's Pearl Jam, GH: Metallica and the $10 Les Paul (along with the Death Magnetic pack), I'm glad to see that next week's DLC is something I can avoid.

I was fearing it would be Nothing's Shocking, or something else I'd have to buy for my fake instruments/band.

Most of his fans probably don't have the internet connection to buy this.

But I suppose it's good for those who want more country

I can appreciate that they are shooting for several different genres. That said, I'm not at all excited for Toby Keith.

Dear God. So far, I have made a commitment to buying every Rock Band song out there. That includes things like the first Country pack, the Nickelodeon songs, and even Jimmy Buffet. This is going to greatly test my commitment, since this guy is a total douche.

"Also, this isn't the full DLC announcement for next week, so be sure to check back in on Friday for more news."

Spongebob I can dig. Toby Keith...yeah, I'd check it out but my brain automatically filters out music that lowers my I.Q. and as someone who graduated from college with a liberal arts degree I have little intelligence to spare.
