The Week in Rock (Band DLC): 'Progressive Tracks'

The Week in Rock (Band DLC): 'Progressive Tracks' photo
     DLC

This week's shot of Rock Band goodness comes in the form of three "Progressive" tracks, a term I've not heard in many years and hoped would never come back. All that aside, the newness breaks down as follows:

    Smashing Pumpkins "Siva"

    Rush "Working Man"

Coheed and Cambria "Ten Speed (of God's Blood and Burial)"

No idea how those three songs fell into the same genre. You've got 70s powerhouse Rush, the Pumpkins, (is this pre or post Billy Corgan looking like Nosferatu?) and the other band that clogs up the shelves whenever I'm looking for a Coalesce CD. Regardless, go forth and rock, young ones. Rock and keep the dream alive as you keep your neighbors awake. The songs are $1.99 each and $5.49 per pack. Any of them looking good to you?

I still can't figure out if I find that chick from Smashing Pumpkins cute or not.

Coheed and Cambria is cool on paper. All their albums are supposed to tell a sci-fi story. Their songs are hit and miss though. I'm still waiting for the comic book.

Oh you fucker. Smashing Pumpkins are awesome. Billy Corgan is just a misunderstood vampire hippie.

Topher, any confirmation of which tracks are covers? I know that the Rush song is a cover, but I remember there being a dispute about whether Coheed and Cambria's song was a cover, especially considering it's from the same album as "Welcome Home," which is on the disc as a master track.

@ Surf314

Then go get the comic book. Issues 1-5 are done, covering the first half of The Second Stage Turbine Blade. And of course, the previous graphic novel by Christopher Shy for Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Vol. 1 has been out for a while.

All I want out of Rock Band is Siamese Dream as a full album download. Will be downloading Siva post-haste even though there are much better songs on Gish.

Hell, just make Gish a full album download too.

Thanx, I get all my comic book info from my friend. I generally only go to the comic book shop once every month or so and get what interests me. Do they have trades out? I only get trades due to my poor organizational skills.

Siva's one of my least favorite SP songs, too. Bleh.

They pretty much nailed it perfectly with Cherub Rock.

Maybe if some Geek USA, Zero, or Bullet with Butterfly Wings was on there.

When the hell am I going to get some They Might Be Giants on there? Huh? I think we all deserve some Birdhouse in Your Soul or The Guitar.

It'd be a nice balance/apology to Fallout Boy.

I'll watch some videos of the Coheed song and see if it's worth getting.

As much as I am against Coheed's song being released like this I still want them. They are so awesome playing on Rock Band, I hope they go ahead and release one of their albums to download soon.

As for the other two I'll pick up the Rush. Not sure about SP, wasn't a fan of that song too much.

No TPB yet, but the graphic novel for Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV Vol. 1 is all there is of that part of the story (and has great art), so you could pick that one up while you wait for them to collect the current story. Then again, there's currently no guarantee they're going to do that, and considering the always-present iffyness of Claudio's comic book plans (remember the first attempt of creating The Second Stage Turbine Blade comics, canceled after two issues?), you might be better off attempting to grab the individual issues before they become rare.

Just wondering. Can't wait for further content...

Coheed and Cambria before Joy Division and Neutral Milk Hotel? They can go fuck themselves hard.

TMBG would be nice, I don't mind Pumpkins and Rush so much.

I wish that Rock Band would one day get Porcupine Tree, but none of you people know who they are.

This pack saddens me. So you're saying we get a Prog Pack without Yes or Dream Theater? Failure. I might have been swayed by the Coheed and Cambria track but it's a cover. Doubley failure.

What is up with this budget where they can get C&C on disc but not on DLC? Wasn't that the whole point of being scooped up by MTV. So we wouldn't be getting so many covers?

Like everything else for rock band I will download like a good little monkey.
