The Week in Rock Band DLC: Not quite the rest of Nirvana's Nevermind, but almost photo

Next week's Rock Band DLC offerings have been revealed -- seven tracks off of Nirvana's legendary album, Nevermind. They are:

"Breed," "Lounge Act," "On a Plain," "Polly," "Something in the Way," "Stay Away," and Territorial Pissings"

The pack can be purchased for $10.99 (880 MS Points) or for $1.99 (160 MS Points) per track. They'll be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace next Tuesday, and PlayStation Network the following Tuesday.

Personally, I'm happy to see these tracks finally making their way to Rock Band, but I'm concerned. The lack of some of the albums "hit singles" is suspicious, particularly the lack of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "Come As You Are," and "Lithium." In fact, save for those tracks, we'd have a complete album.

So where are they? Who knows. One could speculate that maybe the folks behind another music game came in and signed a fat blank check out in Courtney Love's name to secure the rights. Or maybe Harmonix/MTV feel like they need to hold on to something for the inevitable retail follow up to Rock Band 2.

Whatever the case, Nirvana fans should be happy to be able to play most of the album. I certainly am.

Okay, totally unrelated comment: Am I the only one who sees the Destructoid front page as having really fucked-up formatting, after the first couple of posts? The left sidebar completely collapses.

Awesome. I've waited for Polly forever. Lounge Act will be fun, too.

Poop.

I want fun, cheesy pop-punk songs! Enough of this grunge business.

Maybe the three missing songs will be part of the 20 free tracks? Speaking of, WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY?!

I've been waiting for the full album for too long now!

Also, Sharpless, no. We were talking about that recently. It's been messed up for days and it makes me cry.

These songs are for RB1? Also, will this songs be able to be imported into RB2 setlist?

As for the formatting, I haven't had a problem with it, I think it looks much nicer, imo.

@Sharpless

It's been like this for the past week now. It's annoying as hell and I want it to end.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!

The promise of "Nevermind" as DLC was one of the major contributing factors to my purchase, as was "Who's next". I call bullshit on only releasing a few songs from these albums when they were announced over a year ago. HMX has had plenty of time to fill in the blanks, locate master recordings or recorde covers or something. Yes. I would even take covered to fill in the blanks just to have full albums.

Releasing a pack from "Nevermind" without Smells like Teen Spirit is like banging the hottest girl on the planet and right before you blow your load, just pulling out putting your pants on and leaving.

BULLSHIT!

Most of Nevermind is actually BETTER than the singles, so I'm calling this a win.

I just hope someone in authority (*coughNIEROcough*) is aware that the site is messed up. I've noticed some glitchy stuff elsewhere too. Makes sad panda sad.

I'm buying these for sure. That being said, it is weird that such major songs are being left out, but I'm sure they'll be available in some form somewhere down the line.

@ Vexed Alex -- Can't tell if you're srs, but I TOTALLY AGREE!! What is all this grunge madness? Where's the oldschool Alkaline Trio (circa Maybe I'll Catch Fire) and MxPx (Life In General!) at??

But honestly, enough tom-foolering, needs moar Ramones.

Nice, and I'll probably get it, but where's Smells Like Teen Spirit or Come As You Are? And Polly and Something in the way don't seem like they'd be too much fun. I'd rather them put some stuff from In Utero or Bleach: About A Girl, Scentless Apprentice, All Apologies, Very Ape, hell, the Unplugged covers of The Man Who Sold the World and Lake of Fire'd be sweet. They better have an excuse (the master tracks couldn't be found, Courtney Love was crazy as usual).

That is definitely curious. It almost confirms that we'll be seeing a three-song pack, though whether it'll be on Rock Band or GH:WT is up in the air.

BOOOOOOOOOO! Although I'm still psyched to get this, at least. I wouldn't consider myself a Nirvana fan, but I did love this album.
