The week in Rock Band DLC: Metal Roadrunner Records pack is metal photo

Alright you whiny bastards. You wanted more metal in Rock Band, well here it is. Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that next week's DLC will bring the "Roadrunner 6 Pack," featuring the following songs:

  • Airbourne - "Runnin' Wild"
  • DevilDriver - "Clouds Over California"
  • Dream Theater - "Constant Motion"
  • Killswitch Engage - "My Curse"
  • Machine Head - "Aesthetics of Hate"
  • Megadeth - "Sleepwalker"

For one month after its release, the six pack will cost 480 MS Points ($5.99), with each track going for 80 MS Points ($0.99). After that, the pack price will be jacked up to 800 MS Points ($9.99), and the single tracks will be the "regular" 160 MS Points ($1.99).

Honestly, for six bucks, I'm down for all of this stuff ... even if I admittedly don't know all of the music. But hey, I'm open for some more metal in my house, because I hate my neighbors. The tracks will drop on Xbox LIVE Marketplace next Tuesday, and PlayStation Network on Thursday.

ROCK ON!

[Thanks, power-glove, who every week sends us this information six hours before we get the official press releases]

Dream Theater, nice. I don't have Rock Band, though.

Are Lanthanoids and Actinoids actually metal? My Googling was inconclusive.

im sick and tired of this price point changing/jacking. set a price and stick with it. if people want it they'll buy it.

also the whole microsoft 1 week exclusive of rock band 2 crap. why to ruin it and try to get the upper hand penisoft.

Miketava, HMX never announced The Offspring songs, the Offspring themselves announced that those tracks would appear in Rock Band. Also, we don't even know if some of those tracks can be used in Rock Band or not?

Fetusmilk, are you actually complaining about a great offer?

I just listened to all the songs....this week is so full of win.

However, Rock Band still lacks a double bass pedal, so how the hell are you supposed to even attempt any of these songs (save Airbourne) on the drums on expert?

Can't wait to play Dream Theater and Machine Head.

sorry i dont own/play rockband much. i got all music gamed out with GH3. its cool to play with friends and all. some songs are good/fun to play.but almost all the songs are crap. at least pick good songs from bands. or even good bands for that matter.

also dont plan on getting RB2. give me GH4. i want to create all the songs i like so i can PLAY music i like. the song creator is gonna rule.

i also wouldnt buy a polished turd if it was cheaper on teusday than it will be on friday just because its a deal.

Sweetness!

Aethetics of Hate and Constant Motion are two of my favorite songs by the respective bands.

If you haven't heard Dream Theater or Machine Head (and are a fan of metal) take my word for it when I say you MUST seek them out. I can't believe it's been this long with NEITHER of them in Video Game form. Could have something to do with the difficulty I suppose.

They are both the best at what they do (Dream Theater to Prog Metal and Machine Head to Balls-to-the-wall Heavy Metal) and these songs represent them entirely.

What in the blue FUCK?
A RoadRunner Records pack and there's no goddamned Slipknot? What kind of bullshit RR pack is this? And they have a new album out in a few weeks! Psychosocial should be on this pack...

At least they didn't put any goddamned Nickelback.

It's about time they added some good metal, still not what I asked for though. Although it was pointed out that if they gave me what I wanted the drums would be gimped because you simply can't kick fast enough with ONE GOD DAMN KICK. Megadeth is awesome, Dream Theatre is pretty cool. I'm actually not familiar with Airbourne or DevilDriver. I hope they're good. I really want some Nevermore and some Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Persuader, etc etc.

I agree with JoeCamNet.

Slipknot AND Dragonforce...even though DF is going to be in GHWT. We can still wait and hope though.

Still, these tracks are freakin awesome, especially Constant Motion.

it will be purchased and enjoyed. Still nice to think that if I buy RB2 I will already have these tracks to play.

Killswitch and Dream Theater are welcome additions and the pricing is pretty sweet. I'd glady accept add-ons like this over grateful dead and Jimmy Buffet (you gotta be fuckin kidding me) Keep it up Harmonix

At the halfprice value? Fookin Sold!

Actually, I'll be skipping Killswitch and Machine Head, but grabbing the other four for sure.

I hope that in some future week we get some of the older (better) Megadeth, and also more classic rock.

<- Stahlbrand is not down with contemporary-plastic-punk-emo-indie music. But, I'm sure everybody will get the chance to enjoy the music they love, all the DLC balances out in the end.

IN THE SAME DAY?!?!?!??!!?

This is the happiest I've ever been about a Rock Band DLC announcement. I refrained from writing this whole comment in all caps to keep people from thinking I'm crazy.

In all seriousness though, Megadeth/Dream Theater for the mega-win. It's like Gigantour 2006 all over again!

I'm gonna get that Killswitch Engage song. I really like the band, even though I'm not that big of a metal fan. I hope they use the album version of the song, not the radio version like Guitar Hero 3 used.

When will they figure out that buying 6 $0.99 songs individually is cheaper than the whole pack of 6 for $5.99?

Then again, I'll save my pennies and move on.

jpitner: That would be true if it was in increments of 99 cents, which it's not. It's 6 songs for 6 dollars, not 6 songs for 5 dollars 94 cents or whatever. 80X6=480. The benefit to buying them together is you only have to download it once.

However, if you want to delete a song, you have to delete the entire pack and redownload the rest of them.

So it's a toss-up really.
