Quantcast

Staying true to their promise of weekly downloadable content, Harmonix delivers again this week, adding three songs to the game's roster this week. Harmonix's Sean Baptiste spills the beans on this week's selections, and it's quite a random smattering of songs:

"Number of the Beast" made famous by Iron Maiden (cover)
"Die, All Right!" by the Hives
"Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots

Nerds may recognize Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" from Guitar Hero III, while those who are truly metal will throw up their horns and drag an Eddie statue from their closets.

All songs will cost $1.99 a piece (160 MS Points), and will be available tomorrow for the Xbox 360 and, while PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait for this Thursday's Network update.

Not my preferred Maiden song, but here's hoping the note chart won't completely suck like it did for GH3.

I actually remember Number of the Beast from Tony Hawk (4, I believe?). I freaked out when it was in Guitar Hero 3, though. It's awesome that they have it in Rock Band now, also. :D

Are they really going to make me hit (fake) Bruce's scream towards the beginning of the song? My neighbors are probably already pissed from Run To The Hills.

Not a fan of Maiden and can't stand the Hives' vocalist, but I can't -wait- to pick STP up. One of my favorite songs, and adding more mid-late 90s rock certainly doesn't hurt!

@max

You know you aren't actually singing like Mike D when you're doing Sabotage. No one here is.

Might consider buying Maiden and STP.

Make sure you get the newest 360 with the n65 chip. Supposedly they're not as loud when playing discs. I'm glad I got GH3 and Rock Band for the PS3 for this reason alone since I play them to listen to the music as well.

I have had the good fortune to see The Hives live. All I can say is that they are amazing.
I am picking up all three.

How much are Canadian Microsoft point? 160 MS point is more expensive in canada go figure. They don`t use the US exchange rate. At 1:1 rate MS is ripping us up!

It appears that every Tony Hawk soundtrack song will eventually be in a plastic-toy-driven-peripheral-music-game. Remember years ago singing along to Blitzkrieg Bop in THPS..2? I think it was 2... could be 3 or 4 for all I know or care. It's like Madden for them; they all bleed together as far as details are concerned.

Awesome! “Interstate Love Song” is also my favorite STP song, like Dexter345, and I’m glad that it isn’t a cover. I always thought that riff would be so fun to play in this game (of course, it’s plenty fun to play it on a real guitar as well...)

@jpitner

I think Blitzkrieg Bop was in THPS3, since I remember hearing it in the Canada level. It's sad that I remember that, but I played the shit out of every (well, 1-4 plus Underground) Tony Hawk game, so I know all the soundtracks and levels like the back of my hand.

I feel like such a loser when I hear a song and think "Oh! That was in Tony Hawk!"

Is it my imagination or does Rock Band have an infinitely better soundtrack than Guitar Hero III?

MAIIIIIIIIDEEEEEEENNNNNNNN!!!!!

Interstate Love Song rocks too, but I'd love to see more STP... Or if they make me want to wet myself; release Core as a full DLC album.

However, The Hives can go suck it.

Pretty solid stuff overall, I'm just sad because I like most of the DLC more than what they shipped with the game. Not that I can get the game anytime soon =<.

Anybody else officially done with the Guitar Hero franchise? I know I am. Its like they aren't even trying compared with this. I was a bit pissed about having DLC ready before the game even shipped showing that they could have easily added it into the final game, but in the long run I see what Harmonix is doing and I like it.

Even if they are sucking up all my fucking money...

Well you could be like me and say "OH! That song was in Elite Beat Agents!" when Highway Star comes up.

Anyway, my love for Interstate Love Song is conflicting with my refusal to purchase downloadable content due to being cheap. Nrrggg *head explodes*

I have to agree with Sharpless, the soundtrack for RB is infinitely better than GHIII. Once I got Rock Band, I flipped off my copy of GHIII and never looked back.

Although I do miss playing Story of My Life "as made famous by" Social D. :(
