Two weeks have gone by since Harmonix rocked our world with the first full album of Rock Band DLC, and it appears that they’ve exhausted their lineup of “triple-A” songs that everyone has been requesting. So instead of more Judas Priest, some Muse, or, I don’t know, anything else, we’re stuck with two songs I’ve never heard of, and one lackluster song by one of my favorite bands.
Next week, Harmonix will be bringing you “Date With The Night” by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and “It Hurts” by Angels & Airwaves, two songs that I’m not familiar with. And to be quite honest, after listening to 30-second snippets of them on iTunes, I’m glad that I’m not familiar with those songs.
The third track is Fall Out Boy’s “This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race”, the hit debut single for their third full-length album, 2007’s Infinity On High. Now, I’m a huge Fall Out Boy fan (yeah, yeah...sue me) — I have been since Take This To Your Grave way back in 2003 — but really, I could think of about ten songs of theirs off the top of my head that I’d rather play in Rock Band. Oh, well...at least they’re all master tracks.
Anyway, the songs will be available, as usual, on Xbox Live next Tuesday (May 6th) and on the PlayStation Network next Thursday (May 8th). The standard pricing is in effect; each song will cost you $1.99 (160 MS Points), or you can pick up the three-song pack for $5.49 (440 MS Points). Hit the jump for the press release. And if, for some crazy reason, you’re actually interested in the Fall Out Boy figurines pictured above, you can order them online for the low, low price of £44.77 (that’s almost $90)!

WHAT THE FUCK IS OUR WORLD COMING TO
Now, I’m a huge Fall Out Boy fan
Now, I’m a huge Fall Out Boy fan
Now, I’m a huge Fall Out Boy fan
but i lol'd a little
Either way, i'm not big on rock and whatnot, but I hear enough Fall out boy on the radio and at work. Don't wanna hear it when I start playing Rock Band.
Also, "Date with the Night" is an awesome song.
Oh well, guess I'll be picking up "Date with the Night"
Sure, being a struggling artist is an admirable concept — but it’s only admirable from the outside. If you’re in the music business, you’re almost certainly there to make money (I’m not saying that’s the only reason people get into it, but it’s usually a big part of it).
Fall Out Boy didn’t change their sound to “go mainstream” or anything, and in fact, their musical stylings have evolved since their first album. Don’t discount my (or anyone else’s) taste in music just because they like a popular band — everyone has a few guilty pleasures (though again, I don’t feel guilty at all about liking Fall Out Boy).
Well said my man! I too hate people who say "I liked them before they were big" because they are just pretentious fools who care more about what others think of them then what they think of themselves.
Every band wants to make it big so they can make a living off their music and people who don't support them when or if they do make the big time are not real fans of them or their music in the first place.
I wouldn't say FOB have necessarily sold out but they (or at least Pete Wentz) seem to be more about the MTV celebrity life style more than they used to be, even when compared to the "under the cork tree" days....
Back on topic though Date with the night is an awesome song and one that should be great fun on Rock Band and This ain't a scene... may not be one of the strongest tracks for the game it's one of my fav FOB tracks (yes I'm a fan as well, not a huge one though) A&A is meh though but still better than Judas Priest imo
14 year old boys will still be squawking at you every time you play this on live.
But what I can say is that radio/tv edits of songs irritate the hell out of me. I do like a very large variety of music on my Rock Band - but I think that if this Fallout Boy is edited to remove the "god" from "damn" then I will skip it.
That irritates the hell out of me about the GH Franchise and Rock Band. They have free will to change the rating on the game, just use the original lyrics.
I will most likely buy the song when my credit card works again.
someone buy me Rock Band plz. I luv u 4ever.
So i'd say the songs should not be edited to remove curse words. Or at the very least, offer a filter for parents who do not want kids to hear.
What the fuck?!?!
*sigh*
Yeah?
But too bad Angels and Airwaves and Fall Out Boy suck balls.
I never really thought about song editing to take out 'offensive' language, makes me less inclined to get Rock Band, I want to play the song as it was recorded, not as it was edited to protect people from words that have been somehow imbued with a mystical level of badness by the morally retarded.
Also, Fall Out Boy is just plain bad.
"This Ain't a Scene..." is a horrible song as well. FOB are the last people who should be criticizing the now shittyness of the emo scene seeing as they are part of the problem. Cursive did it bigger and much better with "Art is Hard".
/end tangent.
I will be buying the Yeah Yeah Yeahs song though.
Hopefully my roomates won't bitch too much about having to play it.
yes yes yes yes
Also, about the game's using radio edit versions of songs... play vocals and you can swear up a storm if you want. No punishment if you do. Everyone I know does. So feel free to add in some of your favorite explitives if you'd like! Especially in Wanted Dead or Alive.
"I've seen a million faces, and I fucked them all!"
