The week in Rock Band DLC: Harmonix Pack brings Harmonix staffers into your home

     Xbox 360

This week's Rock Band downloadable content selections are both great and a little disappointing all at the same time. Great because they're all $.99 a track (80 Microsoft points for Xbox 360), and that these are the same tracks that previously only appeared on the February 2008 disc that came with the Official Xbox Magazine. Disappointing because they're not Journey songs (what is the God damned hold up, Harmonix?), and if you already picked up that issue of the Official Xbox Magazine then there's nothing new here for you.

The three song pack (which can be purchased for $2.99, or 240 MS Points for the Xbox 360) are from bands that include Harmonix staff members. Since Bang Camaro's "Rock Rebellion," Count Zero's "Shake," and Freezepop's "Sprode" are already all available, this is also the first week that we can include videos of all the note charts. So even if you're not familiar with the songs (which you very well may not be, since this isn't Journey, after all), you can give 'em a listen and a look to help make your decision. Or you can just say "F**k it, this isn't Journey. No sale."

The songs will be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace this Tuesday, but PlayStation 3 rockers will have to wait until April 17. A full band video of Freezepop's "Sprode" can be found above, and the remaining songs you can check out after the jump. (All videos courtesy of YouTube user corporalgregg.)

no journey, no sale.
seriously, the minute journey is there I will finally buy rock band.
or "Take Me Home Tonight" by Eddie Money. I will also buy it exclusively for that song.

Still, this is really bad news for people who shelled out $10+ just for the OXM way back when. Talk about a slap to the face.

But still, I agree. We need some Journey badly.

@lumberjackrock: I would love some Eddie Money, "Two Tickets to Paradise." I would also love to see some Huey Lewis and the News in Rock Band.

Seriously, Harmonix, how long before you secure the rights to just start putting massive catalogs of music online from various labels with a standard price structure like iTunes? With the Rock Band music store, we're one step closer...

Without Perry, even Journey isn't Journey -- but it's damn close. Their new frontman is nearly a carbon copy voicewise.

As for PS3 owners having to wait, it's the typical BS as usual. That shit needs to change.

I'm so glad I'm not the only fan of that song. Eddie Money is currently towards the top of my "I need to pirate this" list, simply for that. Hahah.

I once saw a child about to be eaten by a pack of hungry wolves. I went to go save the child from their salivating maws, but then I asked myself, "Is this child Journey?"

The child did not live.

Boston was good, but yeah, the last two weeks have been crap no matter how you try and spin it.

That Shake song sucked, bad. Freezepop was dece. Cool solo in the Bang Camaro song.

no matter what harmonix does they will never please everyone, but in due time there will be always something out there for peoples own personal taste...

Yeah, Journey would be cool.

But so would Rock Band in general. You know, if they actually released it in Australia. That would be great. Anytime now.....

Still waiting....

Bastards.

I fired of a scathing email to Harmonix this morning, Remz. I was harsh and did not hold back. I am pretty sure it would have left them in tears.

Of course, they probably just wiped any tears up with the fat wads of cash they have lying around the office.

Bastards.

Ramones. More Ramones.

You know what would be interesting?
Some wild Japanese punk bands. There's an idea.
How about Balzac, Cobra, or even Guitar Wolf?
