The second week of promised weekly Rock Band downloadable content is upon us, and it ushers in the arrival of "The David Bowie Pack 01" at 440 MS points ($5.50). Of course, all of the songs in the pack can be purchased à la carte (all for 160 MS points a piece) and include:
  • "Queen Bitch"
  • "Moonage Daydream"
  • "Heroes"
All of the tracks are covers, but you won't have to worry about anyone doing a bad David Bowie impression ... that'll be your job. (Correction: Thanks to -D- for pointing out that I am "fail" -- "Moonage Daydream" is indeed a master recording.)

If I had to suggest one track, it would be "Moonage Daydream," from the 1972 concept album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. Not only does the song contain some pretty cool drum sections, but the Rock Band disc already contains another song -- "Sufragette City" -- from the same album. This way, when they decided to release the Ziggy Stardust album in its entirety, you'll feel really screwed. And that's pretty rock n' roll, isn't it?

Oh, and sorry PlayStation 3 rockers -- this content appears to be available only on Xbox 360 for now. PS3 owners may need to wait until the PlayStation Store updates this Thursday.

Hey Nick

"Moonage Daydream" is from the master recording, at least it is according to Major Nelson's posting.

You should get a shipment of assorted pills for use while enjoying these Bowie tracks after purchase.

Dovid Bowie is the man. If I manage to keep half the amount of class he has at his age, I'd be happy.

Rock Band/ Guitar Hero are already those games you "get fucked up" to play....with the Bowie pack, you probably need to dip into the psychedelics to get the most out of these songs.

Just a tip.

If I owned Rock Band, I would be an additional $5.50 in the hole.

I do wish "Queen Bitch" was a master track, though -- I love that song.
