The Warhammer 40,000 games are 66% off on Steam photo

It's Warhammer Weekend over on Steam which means games like Space Marine, Dawn of War, Dawn of War II, and the obligatory expansions are 66% off. I'm not sure if that's enough of a discount to grab those of you who have been holding out for so long, but I hope so.

As a part of this promotion, Dawn of War II: Retribution's multiplayer is playable for free. Though I could never get into it on the same level as Last Stand mode or the campaigns, you can't argue with the price. Strongly consider leaving your comfort zone with one of these titles if they're all new to you.

Never played the sequel, but I wholeheartedly recommend Dawn of War for those who are on the fence.

GreenManGaming has Space Marine for 12.50 if you live in the U.S.

And it's just a Steam code, so there's no problems there. http://www.greenmangaming.com/ - However, I guess it's only for like 6 more hours.

Also, Dawn of War 2 is great. Unless you really want the single player campaigns, though, you really only need to buy Retribution.

Which one should I buy? I'm interested but there's like 10 versions. I want the on with the most strategy and fun.

Just got Retribution on steam. Might as well get Space Marine. Think I might try green man gaming.

I haven't played the first one. I guess there are differences, but I don't really know. The second is a very good game. However, Retribution is the latest release, and it has a fully functional multiplayer as well as a few campaigns. Unless you really are focused on singleplayer only and want to see the whole story or whatever, then you probably just need Retribution to experience "Dawn of War II."

However, I can't speak as to which DoW 1 to get or whether DoW2 is definitely superior to its predecessor.

http://www.metacritic.com/search/all/dawn+of+war/results - There. They all seem to have comparable review score aggregates.

"Just got Retribution on steam. Might as well get Space Marine. Think I might try green man gaming." - Since they're just giving you a Steam code, I don't think there is any downside. They're legit. They are generally known for their pre-order sales. I remember they had Dead Island for like 40 bucks before it came out.

Yeah, I broke down and bought it through GMG. Like I said, they give you a code and you enter it through Steam.

I now officially own all Dawn of War titles. I already had the sequel but never the first game and its expansions. Well, it's been real fellas. See you all when the addiction subsides.

Yeah, I don't own the first ones at all. Part of me wants to get them.. but part of me realizes that they'll just be added onto the never-ending backlog.

Alright, purchased Retribution. Starcraft burnt me out on multiplayer RTS, but I really like the single player campaigns of games like C&C, SupCom, and WC3. Hopefully this is awesome.

@agentarsenic: I haven't played the campaign for Retribution that much, but what I played seemed solid. Keep in mind, SC2 has, IMHO, the best single-player RTS campaign ever made.. well.. except for the absolutely terrible story, but I digress. None of the DoW 2 campaigns are to that level of polish. However, they original campaign and the Chaos campaign were both solid. I think they're probably second best in the business when it comes to classic RTS campaigns.

I'm missing Dark Cruse and I didn't play the winter assault expansion of the first one, so I might end up picking them up.

Bought it, tried it, didn't like it.
Too multiplayer-focused, too little base building. Bring back mah Homeworld, lads!

That is an excellent price for the original DoW Gold Edition, and not bad for Dark Crusade.

Yeah, for future reference, DoW 2 has virtually no base building. The idea is that you're supposed to focus on the combat in the field. Still, yes, these are largely MP focused games.

As for combat in the field, damn straight you needed to be paying attention to combat in the field in the original DoW, as well as base building. Made for a better game, IMHO.

A better middle ground would have been an option to do base building without moving your camera back to base; to que up squads and research and lay down buildings from afar, as an option.

Bought Space Marine. Not going to bother with the rest because RTS style games just aren't my thing. Still going to download the Dawn of War 2: Retribution trial though.

I need to buy up anything I don't have. It's a good opportunity to show support for Relic, at a time when THQ is struggling and may be forced into some hard choices.

I picked up the Tau guy for Last Stand, no way I was paying $10 for that before the sale. He's pretty cool.
