What do you think of when someone mentions the Warcraft series? Orcs, magic, grinding, and elf boobs probably come to mind. But how about dragons fighting F-16s and other mythical creatures in a present-day setting? Not so much. Starcraft producer, Bill Roper, talks about a pitch for Warcraft II that didn't quite make the cut: After the first Warcraft and when we were talking about Warcraft II, there was an idea for about a week where we'd open another portal open and have the Orcs invade the modern-day world. We had this whole cut-scene we were talking about where it was going to be dragons and F-16s and firefights and stuff. And we were like, "Man, that's going to be weird. That's going to suck. That's not going to be Warcraft." In case you hadn't realized it yet, the game being described is essentially what Hellgate: London will be like. Thank the gaming gods that Blizzard decided against using this concept for Warcraft series because it would flat-out not work. [Via Opposable Thumbs]

Blizzard has nothing to do with Hellgate. Just the guys that left Blizzard to found Flagship
Flagship are essentially the Diabalo team (Blizzard North) are they not? I know they're not controlled by Blizzard any more, but hey ho.
Yeah, you are right. I keep forgetting that they left.
I would pay good money to watch a dragon fight an F-16.
Is that why the orc on the left looks a bit like the statue of liberty?
^^^^ Good old Warcraft II graphics.
I have an old crappy laptop laying around here that I surf the net from bed with. It's also my Warcraft II machine. Still fun, even today.
That actually would've been interesting. C'mon Blizzard, let's see this in the next expansion. I want my F-16 of Fury to fly around in Outland.
dragons and orcs are gay.
being a Blizzard fanboy, this is so old news.
"What? Me not that kind of Orc!?"
you said it there, guy pretending to be an orc for a joke on a video game website!
I'm still bummed that Warcraft Adventures game never happened.
I wish the Telltale Games guys would pick up Warcraft Adventures.
They already borrowed heavily from tabletop Warhammer, the "orcs in modern world" idea would look too much like Warhammer 40K.
