Never said it was doomed. Not once. I said it was in a risky position, and that's the extent of what I said. You fool.
...But I like it.
Loving star comments though, lol, some of these were gold.
I actually like it, it has a good sense of humour and a fun battle system. A bit grindy though. Way too grindy.
The enjoy ability of these games never changes, it just depends whether you get tired of playing them yourself.
I concur with your statement. Now I must don my top hat and dash off into the fading sunset to form my opinion about Skyward Sword (it was crap)
People get pissed because their beloved game didn't get the rating they wanted.
I have a friend who likes Catherine. I don't. But, I don't call him "fat tits" because I disagree.
I'll probably be flamed for my OPINION on reviews, but try to stay professional. We're all (most of us) adults, not arses.
Either way, it's entertaining to read about it. Thanks for the article!
Who would have thunk it.
Conversely if a reviewer gives a game you think is total ass, a high score it also is not the end of the world.
Find a reviewer that shares similar tastes and filter out the reviewers you don't jive with. Simple as that.
tl:dr
Reviewing is subjective*
durrr:
*Based on opinion, opinions may vary...
I don't think Hyperdimension Neptunia was a great game but it was certainly different from a lot of the ones out there at the moment. Shrug. To each their own.
@Jim I listen to podtoid, so I already heard about your feelings on these things before reading this article. Despite that, it never gets old. Keep doing what you're doing Jim, cos whatever you come up with, no matter what it is, always pleases me.
Here, I wrote the jQuery for you guys:
if($('.user_zone_name > a').text().trim() === 'Stealth') { $('.posts_container > b:eq(1)').text((Math.ceil(Math.random() * 4).toFixed(1))); }
If any of you want to test that out, load up a review page, make sure you're logged in, then paste the following into your address bar then press enter:
javascript:if($('.user_zone_name > a').text().trim() === 'mangs') { var v = $('.posts_container > b:eq(1)').text((Math.ceil(Math.random() * 4).toFixed(1))); }
It's the same code as before, but formatted such that you can run a live test on the page you're viewing without loading a new page or reloading.
$(window).load(function() {
if($('.user_zone_name > a').text().trim() === 'Stealth') { $('.posts_container > b:eq(1)').text((Math.ceil(Math.random() * 4).toFixed(1))); }
});
Conversely, I did not enjoy every one of those games.
Particularly The Witcher 2 and Ys 1 and 2. Fuck those games.
Also this "6.5, 4.5" nonsense is getting very old now. It's like a bad reddit joke. Just give it a rest please everyone, please? Its so overused that when it gets to 6.5 at night I groan at remembering that stupid joke.
Much love Jim btw, keep up the good work.
Oh and by the way:

How do they even know the game is what you said it is outside of the coverage that's been given to it -if there was any- over the months leading to it? And how do you pick apart something when most of that coverage leading to it is the same 3 things said over and over? Hype is a powerful thing but it doesn't make up for having the thing in front of you.
A lot of the reviews this year were released on Fridays, days before street date for the games in question (maybe not the ones in the article, but many reviewed otherwise this year) there's no way for most of us to really say one way or another about these games unless we're getting review copies too (IE one way or another getting payed to review things). You want a whacky conspiracy theory?: How many of us are reviewers from other sites? Or better yet, how many of us are paid by the publishers/PR firms/Developers to cause hell on this site? Cause that ridiculousness would be even more funny, considering it drives up the site hits and gives you guys more money to -rightfully- do your thing.
Thats why I don't even bother to comment on a review till I played a game, and that's even if I've bothered to get the game at release. Otherwise if I comment its usually to tell people they're being irrational for balking at someones OPINION, like it really matters a damn what any one person thinks.
It's truly astounding to see the sheer hatred that some people have when someone likes/dislikes a game. It's their opinion, it's.... It's.... *sigh*, there's no use.
"The 3DS is doomed"
Funny how Jim leaves that whole debacle out now that he's been proven horribly wrong and a little stupid about the whole thing.
He was always stupid about sales
At the time Jim said the 3DS was in a risky position with the data that was available to him at the time. The price of the 3DS was cut and there was barely any games for it. He never said outright that the 3DS was doomed and it would have been impossible for him to look into the future to find out if the thing will start to sell.
But thats right your a little kid who had to have their mommy pay for you 3DS and you don't like it when people are mean to it because you are so insecure about yourself that whenever someone has the nerve to tell their own opinion about something and you disagree with it you get all pissy and start being a total fuck wit on the internet.
