I wouldn't mind The Sun so much if it was more like The Onion which is a legitimate tongue in cheek source of daily sarcasm. This is just one of the many reasons why I don't watch the news anymore, they just spew the same sensationalist bullcrap day in day out.

Yeah, it's worth re-iterating to people who aren't too familiar with the Sun that people really don't take the publication seriously.
I feel the parents should be commended for being level headed in the face of a tragedy and not lashing out or trying to place blame (which is a natural response).

If they weren't blaming the Xbox then why would the headline be "Death by Xbox"? Or what about the captions of "Addictive ... Xbox 360" and "Weapon ... Halo game character"? I will say that it's not as bad as the 3DS article but the hatred of gaming is still there.

A breathtaking display of illiteracy in the comments of The Sun website there, makes me suspect that its readership may not actually be that bright. Strange.
Also, to be scientifically accurate, the title of the article in The Sun should actually have read: Death by Deep-Vein Thrombosis. Suddenly, the truth - free of sensationalism - is not so exciting is it?

This inactivity could also have been caused by sitting down reading, watching TV or even sat in front of a PC at work for long periods of time. I wish I lived in jolly ol' Britain, the Sun is much more entertaining than the likes of Fox News could ever be! This article isn't wrong really, he did sort of die from playing the Xbox too much. The only thing wrong is the misleading title, it tries to hard to make games look bad. It was really this guys own fault for playing so damn much honestly, not the video game.

Is The Sun a credible news source? Like, if someone was like, "Hey, I saw this article on The Sun saying something about modern medicine the other day and it was really informative!" would it be taken as seriously as an Onion article?
@Namodacranks Being credible and being taken seriously are two different things. Yes, articles in The Sun are taken seriously because The Sun is Britain's best-selling paper. Evidently plenty of people believe what they read in it and trust it. However, it's not credible. Lots of people love Mariah Carey and treat her music as super-serious business, but she is not a credible artist.

Just saw this in a shop and laughed to myself. The Sun reminds me of WWII era propaganda, an incredibly biased view on issues like this.
That's a little young for DVT and it sounds like there may well have been extenuating circustances. My husband has DVT and is currently taking treatment for a big blood clot in his arm and he is 10X more active than I am! He has a blood condition unfortunately that makes him more susceptible to clots though. People also often develop clots when they are resting a lot after recouperating from surgery or if they are overweight. There are all kinds of reasons that someone so young could have died from DVT and likely gaming is only touching on the real story.
Anyway.. this is a very good reminder for ALL gamers that they should ensure that they stand up, walk around and refocus their eyes during long gaming sessions.

I love how the parents contradict the headlines though, XBOX kills, but then the parents don't blame the XBOX only the child they had for spending too much time on the machine. Not sure if this can be proven anyway. Pilots probably spend more time at the controls than a gamer, so are they just as much as risk as a gamer each day?
