According to British tabloid The Sun, Nintendo's 3DS is seeing "record levels" of store returns, with "thousands" of users suffering from dizziness and headaches. This same paper claimed earlier that "hundreds" were complaining, while Nintendo refutes such claims.
Allegedly, high street chain HMV is offering full refunds to angry consumers, while GAME's policy varies between stores. One user in Bexleyheath (where I used to shop, and it was always full of douchebags) says he had to fight for his refund, but eventually got it.
“When I returned mine to my local GAME in Bexleyheath I had an argument at first but I am someone who knows how to argue and stuck with my guns," claimed the consumer. "Once the guy agreed we chatted and he told me they had had a high return of the 3DS, more than any launch product."
Of course, since this is The Sun, the actual truth is disputed. Nintendo says GAME had "less than five people" complaining, and retailers themselves refute the claims. It almost looks like The Sun is embellishing in order to justify its earlier attack on the system, which wouldn't be the first time. Tabloids are great at holding a grudge like that.
In any case, this is unpleasant PR for a system that really hasn't been getting too much positive coverage.

No Gaems
Splinter cell this month and Thats it, then DOA then that's it (though 3DSware store will be up that month)
But honestly lack of games I was expecting. It'll all be worth it once RE Mercs is out
Also I'm surprised Jim, Bexleyheath is just up the road from me, never knew you came from Kent.
Anyways, I only have one friend with one and he hasn't complained yet. I'm waiting it out until there are some games I'm interested in.
I've had my 3DS since launch, and I've spent quite a bit of time with it already and I have not had one problem whatsoever, and I can see the 3D effect just fine.
Seriously, at the moment I don't even know why I have a 3DS.
Most certainly! Born in Dartford, raised in Erith and spent many years in the Bexley and Bromley area. I have been known to represent the Kentish massive on many occasions.
...Although, can't you turn the 3D off? Or are people just stupid?
Perhaps, it's an age thing. Perhaps we being the internet generation, are in those sweet middle ages - 16-35 type range, whereby our eyes can handle it.
Perhaps our parents / our kids would have troubles we don't?
I dunno, just kinda thinking out loud.
i think no gaemz is the main problem with it right now.
So its not a defense of the 3DS (Hell no!) and far be it from me to judge how Jim wants to be remembered in his journalism nor am I judging any of his opinions (His Jimquisition I usually agree with most of the time) - So not an attack on him personally - I just don't think it was worth giving the time or day to such a low-brow newspaper which Jim's level of "journalism" actually far out-weighs all the SUN staff in their whole company office put together.
Lol. Middle Earth.
I don't think a week is terribly fair of you. We need to wait three years.
I'd honestly trust the Sun more than either.
That said, I don't trust the Sun because its the Sun.
Explain how this is fake. Did the SUN *not* make this claim, then? Did I make it up?
Also, has anyone played Steel Diver? I think it's pretty good.
:)
What a sad, strange little man. I have often marveled at your reality refuting, biased commenting on all matters PSP, but this takes the cake. Please, please, please show us some bad reviews of the 3DS. You can't do it because they don't exist. The majority of reviews have been very complimentary. Now, if you said software reviews, I would mostly agree, but you didn't caveat your statement at all.
The 3DS is going to sell truckloads because it is a great system with lots of potential. The biggest mistake Nintendo made was releasing a new system a few weeks after a new Pokemon game.
