I imagine people like me will play Mass Effect 3's co-op long enough to see what it's about and quickly lose interest, moving back into the quiet realm of offline play.
It all seems to come down to how much you enjoy the series' brand of combat. I've never been bored by it, but I also can't say it's particularly engaging. Of course, that could all change with Mass Effect 3. This trailer is reassuring, though videos like these are never perfectly indicative of hands-on play.
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Meet the rest of the team
Looks like it could be fun. Hopefully they didn't spend too many resources on it. The good news though is that the multiplayer's sole reason for existing (justifying an online pass) means that single player content won't be held ransom.
I wasn't so sure if this would be good or bad when I first heard about the multiplayer. Having seen this trailer, I now know that it's a tacked on piece of shit that definitely diverted development funds from the main campaign. I will probably play it for 10 minutes after I beat the campaign and never return to multiplayer again.
Yeeeeeeeeeeah that did actually look pretty awesome.
I wonder if the little bit with Shepard at the end was a hint that you'll be able to use your omnitool as a weapon, ala the Assassins Creed hidden blade. Cause it sure looked like it.
And feel free to make fun of me if you could already do that in the previous games. I've only played Mass Effect 2 and played through as a soldier.
I'm...skeptical. I'm sure I'll give it a shot, but I play Mass Effect for the single player aspects; I don't really dig multiplayer as a general rule. It just seems like an odd choice this late in the series, but I won't judge until I try it.
Whats with all these journalist noobs who never played Vanguard in Mass Effect 2? Not particularly engaging, try the most awesome gaming experience ever created by man or machine
Jesus Fuck! How much does it cost to get your game mentioned here every fucking day... Destructoid is either hurting for money or needs to up it rates.
That was a really well made trailer, but I'm too cynical to think the co-op will be as fun as that looks. Besides, playing co-op requires other people to buy the game on the same platform as you, something that isn't going to happen to an Origin only PC release. I'll stick with single player.
Damn, there sure is a lot of complaining. Everyone that's getting this is probably getting it for the single player, which will, in all likely hood, be rather f'n spectacular but chastising it because Bioware added multiplayer segments to it seems pretty asinine.
Also I feel multiplayer fits in this series considering it's emphasis on working with a squad. Either way, I am quite hyped and hope that this game shapes up to be as good as I think it'll be.
I thought I read that the multiplayer is necessary to gain resources, replacing mining from ME2. While I hated mining this seems worse to have to force you to play with other people to increase your stats.
I don't understand the anger over adding something to a game in this fashion where it seems secondary and yet has potential for excellence. Worst case scenario this is a launching point for a crappy book or spinoff.
This looks fun and a lot of my buddies are going to be playing this. Ahhh for once I'll be playing the same game as my friends.

Contrary to the popular cynicism that majority of the people are showing, I'm trusting bioware will produce something interesting, if not excellent. Plus it's optional and made by another team so we'll get the same mass effect 3 with or without multiplayer.
Considering nearly all my friends are avoiding this game or only getting it on 360 because of Origin, then I will have to either rustle up more people or play with strangers :/ meh. I am still not certain myself if I want to get ME3 yet...but I do want a "conclusion" to series, even if it is only short lived.
It could be fun. Then again, maybe there is a moon out there in the cosmos made of blue cheese and Jim Sterling might be the re-incarnation of Benny Hill, granted that his soul's transmigration predated Benny Hill's death by a number of years due to impatience at his relative inactivity compared to his prime.
On the one hand, it could bring to the game truly intelligent squad mates and a chance to play as one of the more interesting races in the universe besides the same humans played in nearly every other game ever made(too bad that there doesn't appear to be any playable Krogan females, though. That would have justified this mode right off).
On the other, when they spin in circles, run into walls, block your path, steal your kills or shoot you in the back, it very well may end up being intentional. Then again, that might be a riot in and of itself.

enough with the whining. the only thing that has ever felt "tacked on" in the mass effect series was the inventory system from ME1. yeah thats right. Bioware had made several games with great inventory and stat systems before ME, so why was ME system so clunky, tedious and generally out of flow with the rest of the game? my guess, they never intended for the series to be "Baldurs Gate in Space," and just threw bunch of stats and equipment in to applease people like some of the above posters here. but there is no pleasing people like that so when the game proved to be popular they ditched it for somthing that flows with the game better.
Dont like mutliplayer in ME3? good news, you have storymode so you can go to your little corner and play by yourself.me and my friends will be keeping an open mind while we're Krogan charging on fools.
Looks like it will be okay at best, I just want to play as an alien. I would also like for this game to be on Steam, but somethings can't really be helped, because I'm weak.
@Scowlface: I disagree with your guess. Mass Effect has always been about story. Also my little corner is actually Marilyn Monroe's grave. We have long talks. She tells me I look good in red. I love her.
I love how people say things without knowing.
Multiplayer is just an add-on that took away from single player?Nope, sorry. A different studio worked on multi-player while the main studio (montreal) worked on single player.
Took funding away from single player? Actually nope. They have multiplayer to help prevent piracy. Which increases sales.
That aside I am uncertain it will be "long lasting" though I think it will be good for a few days.
Have you heard about SwapFu.com? I am asking because I like the idea of no point systems and they offer a wide variety of trading. Not just games, but gaming products and mobile electronics. I have been hearing a lot of good things about this site and its release in Spring. I pre registered to see what it’s all about and I get a free trade out of it. I'm sold on its simplicity as Iv’e been told. Please let me know if you have heard of anything about this site.

Holy Crap!!! Someone who works for Bioware is on here! Cause that's the only way you'd know exactly how funds were spent, right?
Nope, omnitool had no real offensive capabilities until now
And I'm with Onyx. Vanguard is the most fun class.
@Onyx
Fuck yes Vanguard!
"without watching it"
Then your opinion is not valid.

Exactly.

Do we really need multiplayer?
Is there a god?
