The Sniper's new weapon in Team Fortress 2 is a jar of piss photo

Today's Team Fortress 2 update reveals the Sniper's new weapon: a jar of piss. Yes, really. Jarate, as it's called, is a jar of pee that's used as a projectile. When an enemy gets hit with the jar of piss, they will take 35% more damage for a period of time. Jarate can also short out the Spy's cloaking devices and extinguish any fire effects on teammates. Jarate's effects can be washed off to by jumping into water.

Like this Spy one, the latest update brings with it another ad from Saxton Hale's catalog of weapons as well as a comic showing the origins of how the Sniper got Jarate. The Sniper's achievement list was also revealed in this update.

As great as this update is, I can't help but wonder what kind of sick Garry's Mod stuff we're going to see involving Jarate. And don't forget, Team Fortress 2 is free to play starting today!

As cool and fun as all of these updates sound, its infuriating that they dont update the 360 version, which is the only version i have. I really like the sound of throwing a jar of pee at someone.

Cool, soon I can impress girls by telling them I'm a master of Jarate.

I'm not surprised, I feel like the jars had to be used for something if the Sniper keeps hold of them like a priceless heirloom.

Fantastic. Now new players can jump into the game right away, only to get plugged seconds after running out of the gate by the huge wave of Spies and Snipers trying out their new toys. This can only end spectacularly.

Its heaven for 'career' snipers like myself. All these people trying to snipe.. its just one headshot after another for me. :D

Also, can't wait for the free TF2 event to occur tonight so I can get my ass kicked by people who know what actually know what they're doing. Huzzah.

Pyros will have a good time, I swear. Most snipers will be busy dealing with spies/other snipers.

I'm hesitant, myself - only because I'm usually one of two spies on a team. I like catching people unawares ;)

Didn't Valve use this as an April Fools joke?

Johnny beat me to it. Valve put up an advertisement for Jarate on April 1st. Never thought they'd actually make it a usable weapon.

So the razorback and the jarate are basically anti-spy weapons. Kinda hard for spies to kill the snipers, no?

Take heed XBOX360 players!

"The XBox 360 update is still being worked on. If you're wondering what's taking so long, since the content is "done" on the PC already, it's mostly been around fitting it all onto the XBox. The original version of TF2 in the Orange Box was very close to the XBox's memory limit, and all the additional TF2 content we've produced has pushed well beyond it. We've found a couple of nifty ways to get back a bunch of that memory, but it's turned out to be a lot of work, and that's what most of our time is being spent on. In the meantime, we're going to get a code update out to address the server cheating that's going on."
