Lots of double updates this week at the DOJO!! The first double update was on Monday and started off with the Fire Emblem stage music. The second update brings us some new video from the campaign. We see Diddy Kong swinging through a forest when he stops near a lake. A Pokemon emerges from the lake and destroys Fox McCloud's Arwing that looks to have crash landed. The Pokemon grabs Diddy Kong but before it could harm Diddy, Fox emerges from his destroyed Arwing, saves Diddy Kong and takes out the Slowbro (From now on, any Pokemon name I don't already know will just be called Slowbro -- Deal with it).

Tuesday's update was just a simple update showing off some of the items from the previous installments. The Beam Sword, Fire Flower, Freezie, Home-Run bat, Party Ball, and Super Mushroom are all reconfirmed. Wednesday was another double updated that got started off with the Grab and Throw move. You can grab people and throw them in different directions -- very simple kids. The next update of the day brought the new Assist Trophy Gray Fox. He's from the Metal Gear Solid series and will run up to enemies and slice them as fast as he can. He can also reflect projectiles.

Thursday's update showed off Lucas's special moves. I should mention that it seems like Ness won't be making a return based on how this update was introduced:

There’s a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now, and Lucas is very similar.

Go cry fanboys. Anyway, Lucas seems to be more powerful then Ness was. He can do a PK barrage to the ground, use his rope snake to grab edges, has a stronger PK Fire, and he can freeze opponents with PK Freeze. PK Thunder and PSI Magnet are also in Lucas's move set too. Today's update showed off Samus's stage, Norfair. Like in past games, the lava will rise but it will also come from the side too now. At one point, a giant lava wall will come and the only safe place is an emergency hatch that you can hide in. You can fight people out of it and when it comes time, the hatch doors seals shut keeping whoever is inside of it perfectly safe.

What did you think of the Dojo this week?

This week felt lacking. The Monday update was pretty nice... but the rest of it was not so great.

Grey Fox was about my favorite character from the MGS series. I'm glad he's in Brawl.

Never did like Ness. Glad he's gone. Probably gonna hate Lucas.

i'm so torn. i love MOTHER 3, so Lucas is gonna be awesome. But I don't see why they'd take away Ness when his series only has the 1 representative. Ah well, I'm sure it'll be fine. Maybe he'll be an assist trophy that teleports onto the stage and blows up.

These were decent updates, but nothing to get excited over.At least the beam sword looks a lot cooler now.

I suppose the appearence of Gray Fox means that there's a very good chance that Tails will appear as an assist trophy and/or possibly even Dr. Robotnik.

Reveal Capt. Falcon already !

yeah a knuckles assist trophy would be cool...i'm still holding out on alternate costumes so that we can get a ness/lucas mash up...i doubt it will happen...but a man can dream cant he?

If Lucas is popular enough to somehow get MOTHER 3 localized, i'll not mind much. :)

Ah, but really, if they're making it so Lucas is how Ness was in the original Super Smash Bros, I won't have anything to cry about. Gimped Ness in Melee was something to cry about.

I don't see how that comment indicates Ness won't be in brawl.
To me it just seems like he's comparing how similar Lucas and ness are, a la dr. mario and mario

Talk about jumping the gun. That comment neither confirms or denies whether ness will be in brawl.

<Side Special Move: PK Fire>

This is also quite different from Ness’s.

..Wouldn't this statement have more weight..he goes and compares it to Ness's :P

@ No shutdown:

There aren't going to be clones anymore. I know that it isn't 'official' yet, but the closer Lucas' moveset gets to Ness' the more likely it becomes that Ness will not be appearing in Brawl as he was previously designed. Either Ness' moveset changes, or Ness is reduced to being an Assist Trophy, or Ness is out of the game proper and only shows up as a regular trophy.

@ JonDarkwood :

I hope so too! :)

I'd like to think Ness could be an alternate form of Lucas, like Zelda/Sheik or Samus/Zero Suit. But.... probably not.

Additionally I'd like to highlight and add some exclamation points to my complete and utter dorkitude for knowing that the nasty-looking Pokemon in the video is a Rayquaza. My guess is that it'll be some sort of miniboss in single player, like the giant Pirahna plant from the earlier video. I have nothing to base this on, but where would we be without rampant internet speculation?

Meh, boring week. Some cool things, but most stuff was already known.

I just don't understand... Why take out Ness and substitute him with another in the first place. Changing his move set? Sure. But taking him out entirely? Makes no sense.

I mean, he's been in two games, and a lot of people now know who he is... Why change him now?

It's just stronger than Ness's PK Fire. It's not that much different other than the force of the attack. And I'm saying he's out. This is like the third time they mention Ness but no announcement of his character actually being in the game. HE'S OUT!

@Lodat: Only english makes that phrase confusing with up untill now. In spanish or french, it doesn't even hint at any possibility of ness being out or in.

I don't think that phrase either denies or confirms anything. It's just comparing ness to lucas.

He may be out, but this is not proof.

The Spanish site literally translates: "Surely you remember Ness, a character that has appeared in previous editions of Smash Bros."

I want to believe that he's being purposely vague so as to not give away that Ness is in the game. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Mon: Why would Rayquaza be in a lake?

Tues: Lightsabers are blue now.

Wed: That's hilarious how they rub it in peoples' faces that Gray Fox isn't playable.

Thurs: Look, Lucas is whipping his snake out.

Fri: Great, some stage we already knew about.
