The DOJO week started off with the announcement of a new map based off of PictoChat. Dale gave you all a look at it on Monday. I'm not too sure what I think about it myself -- reminds me of Game & Watch's stage. Tuesday brought us the above video for Donkey and Diddy Kong's part in the story line. His bananas get stolen (again) and DK goes on a rampage. Diddy Kong jumps in to back up DK with his Peanut Gun all gansta-like. At E For All, they showed this video and right after the movie was over, it went into co-op Adventure mode. Looked really good.
Wednesdays update brought the return of Target Smash! It's basically a mini-game where you have to destroy several targets as fast as possible. The weirdest part of this update though has to be the fact that Masahiro lumped the news of the new replay mode with the Target Smash! news. You can record only up to three minutes of gameplay and you can also send your replays off to your friends.
Thursdays update has to be my favorite of the week though. King Dedede is a playable character! King Dedede is going to be in the same class as Bowser and Donkey Kong as a heavy weight fighter. Friday brought more news for King Dedede with his special moves set. His up move is called Super Dedede jump. He jumps high up in the air and lands back down hard and will hurt anyone that is near his landing zone. He is pretty vulnerable when doing this move though. His side special move is called Waddle Dee toss. He will pull out a Waddle Dee, Waddle Doo or a Gordo that will help him attack opponents. Finally, his down move is called Jet Hammer. It's basically his hammer, but extremely more powerful in this down move mode and can cause a lot of damage.
What did you think of the DOJO news this week? Oh, and don't forget about Krystal!
Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

I expected King Dedede to be a playable character and now that it has been confirmed it's just really cool. It's good to have another semi-bad game to play as. Now we just need to know what his final smash attack will be.
I didn't expect King Dedede to be playable. It seems like they're really reaching out for game villains to flesh out the Subspace Emissary story. You think we can expect King K. Rool or Dr. Eggman in the future? And Ganondorf is absolutely a no-brainer now.
King Dedede being playable but Little Mac just being an assist is something of a crime.
Half the reason I was so excited that Petey Pirhana was a huge, unplayable boss in Brawl was for the fact that many Nintendo characters like him and Dedede deserve to be in Brawl but not necessarily in a playable way.
I like Dedede ok. He's a good villain to Kirby, and as a boss character he does the job. But I've never wanted to play a game as him. Double that for Ridley and Andross.
Dedede, Ridley, and Andross would all be great as overpowered, intimidating unplayable bosses. Making them playable some how seems belittling, like it's beneath them or something.
But some people are happy about this, so I'll try to look at it that way.

This week was nice. In hindsight Dedede looks like a lock, but at the time it was surprising to see him introduced as a playable character and not an Assist Trophy. I was worried that he would function like "a single Ice Climber on steroids" (and I still do), but his special moves are hella interesting. I love the Jet Hammer, it looks really nice!
I am throughly enjoying how Brawl is quickly becoming the new "Marvel vs. Capcom." I am enjoying the "let's throw every character we can into this game" attitude that made me fall in love with "M vs C"
I love all the surprise new characters, but Dex is right, there need to be more Earthbound characters. I think a great Earthbound villain character would be Starman! Yay for Starman!
Sockapal: I second that, but I also would like to see Pokey in his mech as an assist trophy, or dare I dream, Giygas. But I can understand that he's got a wee bit of a Kirby bias considering it is the series he created and nurtured.
Maybe I'm alone, but I'm not really hoping for any more third-party characters. Mega Man or Viewtiful Joe I'd be alright with, maybe even Geno or Mallow considering they were in a Mario game, but all others can stick to their own respective series.
Great week for the dojo. King Dedede in my book even beats Pokemon Trainer and Sonic.
I can't believe so many people are shocked that Dedede is playable. He's Kirby's main rival, even more so than Meta Knight. So if Meta Knight got in, it only makes sense that Dedede would.
Besides, who doesn't want to play as a fat penguin with a hammer?
Why am I the only one asking the pertinent question here: will a crude penis (possibly with a face) be drawn at some point on the Pictochat stage? Because otherwise it's just plain inaccurate. Remember, Pictochat exists to give predators access to your children.
Also, King Dedede just became my character of choice, narrowly beating Ike. I don't care if he turns out to be awful (probable, given that he's a heavy class), he is now the dude I am mastering. And I will definitely use the royal "We" for self-reference while playing as him.

Now we just need Captain Falcon and Ness, then I'll be satisfied but the more the merrier.

Andross a character? Wasn't and hasn't he always been a head? And Ridley is too big. No.
I love how true Sakurai is staying to the games.
